If Panthers Take a WR.. FORGET TATE!

Defying

lack of work effort lack of speed

a.k.a Dwayne Jarret.

Simply not true.. Dwayne always thought he was a star... was all about the glamour.. see USC Career....

This kid grinds it out and doesn't mind if he doesn't get the attention...

Unforunately, Carolina's decision makers probably feel the same way.. Since 2002 they have drafted these WRs:

Walter Young

Keary Colbert

Drew Carter

Dwayne Jarrett

Ryne Robinson

0-5 with WRs.. I would be somewhat surprised if they draft a in the 2nd given the track record.. But Lafell is a PERFECT fit for us...

Everybody but Jarrett was a bust with no hands, Jarrett will shine this year with Moore as r starter

I don't think Lafell is bad, but there will be better WR's available by the time it rolls around to the Panthers. Lafell feels like an early 3rd round pick.

I'm into Arrelious Benn. Seriously. Or Marcus Easley. I think these guys are the possession WR's that are worth the risk.

But as others have said, our recent history of WR's in the 2nd round is anything but good... Ugh.

I was intruiged by this post until I read "Brandon LaFell." This guy has but written all over him.

I am hoping for Tate tonight, but if we can't get him, I think I'd rather trade down to get another pick somewhere, and pick up a solid receiver like Taylor Price from Ohio. This guy might not be Steve Smith, but I think he could grow to be a SOLID #2, which is exactly what we need.

Yeah, the scouting report on Lafell reads like Dwayne Jarrett 2.0:

...is susceptible to press-coverage, and occasionally struggles to gain separation.

If he was susceptible to press-coverage and struggled to gain separation in college, wait till he gets to the NFL.

I understand it's important for a WR to be able to block in our offense, but you don't draft a WR primarily for his blocking ability.

i don't care what anyone says... tate's gonna be a beast one day in the nfl. my money is still on tate, damian williams, or arrelious benn. although i'd like nothing more than to see Tate in a panthers jersey, i'm kind of interested in getting a solid possession receiver here like williams or benn.

He converted all 13 of his field goal tries with a 100% conversion rate that led all FBS kickers with at least 12 attempts. Fitzgerald was also perfect on his 14 extra points. He will compete with Matthew Wright for the Panthers’ kicking job in training camp. Harrison-Hunte went undrafted despite a strong showing at the Combine. He’s an older prospect who will turn 25 by the start of his rookie year, but he had just one season of sustained production at SMU after five years at Miami. Still, he earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2024 with 8.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks and will push for a roster spot in Carolina as an athletic interior disruptor.   more at the link https://www.profootballrumors.com/2025/05/panthers-sign-19-undrafted-free-agents
