Do you really think the goal of this season is to win?

Ok I've come to accept the fact the Panthers are in rebuilding mode, anyone who says otherwise is just clinging on. Of course the panther's are going to try and win, but is that the main goal for them? As I see it the main goal is to just weed anyone out who doesn't pan out. Also called a 'throw away' season, which is a stupid label because it can do much more than actually winning for the right team.

The FO obviously knows they are up against some pretty big odds going into this season and trying to go to far, not saying it can't be done, but they can't honestly think than any reasonable and non-idiot fan is convinced they are going into 2010 with the playoffs/super bowl on their mind...but more of a , well if it happens even better type feeling...and yet I still buy season tickets...

of course!!! why the hell would we want to win??? we gonna in every game and just lay down. in fact, next week will trade the rest of our picks for Jamarcus Russell, so we can complain about bringing in 4 QBs to back up Matt Moore. this season is a WASH!!

You guys are misreading the post, I agreed the panther's will try to win this season (for half the year's money as last but that's ok), I am not doubting that. They are going up against bigger odds, can't really be argued.

but winning in the future seems to be the main goal. Whether Fox is in that future or not, obviously depends on this year...so kind of a challenge for him...

I am not an off season hater, this is why you guys are misinterpreting what I'm saying, I love everything that has been done besides the Edwards pick, everything else including cutting players I liked. When I think of rebuild mode I just think of a lot of untested players coming in to be tested.

I am still scratching my head trying to figure out if weather or not we had a good draft a great draft, or a bad draft altogether. I know this has nothing to do with what we are talking about, but it just seems like the orginization is confident in the product they are going to put on the feild this year. The only thing that really pisses me off is the fact that they raised ticket prices coming off an 8-8 season! Maybe it'll work out ....who knows?

I'm by no means convinced this is a rebuilding year... The majority of the players we lost/cut were aging veterans, well past their prime... Peppers was never going to resign here, and not paying him a 23 million salary was the right thing to do... Brown was drafted last year for the sole purpose of being able to step in once Pep left... So that was planned for... Delhomme was a mess... I hate he's gone, but agree with the move... Smith needed help, and got plenty of fresh blood in the WR corps... The OL is still intact... The RB's are still intact... Hoover was a fan favorite, but has nearly a decade of wear on his tires... It's clear the Panthers have questions about his durability, and have confidence in Fiametta... The CB's are solid... The Safeties are young, but talented, and have experience in the system... I don't expect much dropoff in performance there... I hate to lose Harris, but he can be replaced with talent already on the roster... The LB's are among the best in the game... Very solid, and deep crew... The weak link on the team is DT... Kemo obviously had some concerns... I hated to lose Lewis, but we do still have some talent there... Not deep, not great, but for that to be the weakest point on the team, with time to address it... I can live with that... This should not be a throw away season... We lost some vet leadership, but we still have plenty in the locker room... Beason... Smith... Gross... Kasay... Etc...

I sincerely believe this team will surprise plenty of folks this year...

Front office goal: Be prepared for potential lockout financially, be prepared to return from lockout without aging unproductive players in order to entice fans back

Coaching goal: Put best effort forth with what you have to work with.

Player's goals: Win every game. Period. This is my chance.

Fan's goals: Dear God........please?
