Do you really think the goal of this season is to win?

Front office goal: Be prepared for potential lockout financially, be prepared to return from lockout without aging unproductive players in order to entice fans back

Coaching goal: Put best effort forth with what you have to work with.

Player's goals: Win every game. Period. This is my chance.

Fan's goals: Dear God........please?

really? f*cking really? i'm just tired of this. the coaches call plays to put money in their pockets... players execute the plays to: A) put their name in the history books B) win a spot on the team roster and C) to also put money in their pockets. i just don't understand why fans can't grasp this information. without winning, you lose your job (and if you're not a winning head coach losing your job, you're not gonna get hired somewhere else). it's the same with this whole CBA crap. people have to make money, end of story, nothing has changed. if the coaches and players want to keep their jobs, they'll win.

the goal of this season is to see if our young guys have been coached up by Fox to be ready to be starters...we've had a lot of potential starters sit behind old stand by's(vets) for years now..the last couple games of the season showed we don't really need the old vets to hang with the big boys anymore..

If Fox and Hurney prove that they drafted right and the team plays well together(9+wins)..then I doubt Richardson will want to let them go nor do I think they would leave something they've built for years to get to this point(unless it turns out to be an absolute shite of a team).

I swear its amazing how many sensitive people we have on this forum. I think you guys are completly missing the OPs point. Hes saying this season is more about evaluating talent than it is about trying to win championships/divisions/etc. If they make the playoffs GREAT but that would only be a bonus because thats not the real goal. In years past the teams goal was to win the super bowl. When a team says they're going in a youth movement they are telling you in advanced that this a rebuilding season. Thats not being negative or being an "offseason hater" its just reality.

The team never said they were going to a youth movement. That's the media take on it.

There is no such thing as a season where the goal is not to win the Super Bowl.

HA not this year. Richardson is conducting a social experiment. He is trying to see how bad of a team her can scrape together while still getting poor unsuspecting test subjects to purchase jerseys.

Um yes they have. Hurney has said it dozens of times already. And I can I assure the rams, bucs, browns, etc have no visions of winning the super bowl this year. No rebuilding team does. They just won't say it out loud

Of course the goal is to win every game, win the Super bowl etc. Detroit, Tampa, Seattle , St Louis and Seattle have that as a goal also. This year we have as much chance as they do of it being a realistic goal.

They always have that as their goal. They just realize it may not happen.

Their goal like every team is to win as many games as possible. There main goal is to build a team that can one day win a super bowl. There isn't one person in those organizations that are thinking super bowl this year

I disagree. Any good coach knows that in order to reach your goal you first need to visualize it and embrace the possibility. Do you think that a reasonable goal for us in 2003 was to reach the Superbowl after we went 7-9 in 2002 under Fox? How about the Jets last year? They almost made it. I guarantee Ryan had that as his goal. It is the goal of every team or they don't belong in the NFL. Same with their coaches and FO.

    • Saw this show up in my new feed. Nice to see a couple of our rookies making it into the top 5 so far, even if it is a pff measure... From https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-top-15-rookies-week-9-2025 ... 4. TE Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers (78.7) Evans struggled in the Panthers’ tight win over the Packers, finishing with a 41.8 PFF overall grade — third worst among tight ends this week. He was not targeted in the game and played only one snap in pass protection. He did log 15 run-blocking snaps, and although he earned a 68.9 PFF run-blocking grade in zone looks (seven snaps), his 39.0 mark in gap schemes (second worst for the week) dragged him down to a 46.6 PFF run-blocking grade overall — sixth worst for the week. Despite seeing zero targets over his past two games, Evans still leads the Carolina tight end group with a 74.3 PFF receiving grade. He has caught all nine of his targets for 90 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns. Evans also leads the Panthers’ tight end group in PFF run-blocking grade (72.2). He has recorded a 20.5% positive play rate across 175 snaps.  5. WR Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers (78.6) McMillan had a better day against the Packers, recording four catches for 46 yards. Most of that production came in the first quarter via two 16-yard catches — one of which he snatched from Carrington Valentine’s hands, who was in perfect position to break up the pass. McMillan accounted for three first downs on the day, although Green Bay was able to limit his impact after the catch, holding him to 0.8 yards after the catch per reception. McMillan now has 41 catches for 558 yards — a top-15 mark. He is also tied for second with 19 explosive gains of 15-plus yards. Three of McMillan’s catches against the Packers came between the numbers, bringing him to 22 for 318 yards and 19 first downs (tied for second most) this season. He owns a 26.1% threat rate and a 76.6 PFF receiving grade between the numbers. He also ranks in the top 10 in explosive gains (10) and yards after the catch per reception (5.5) within that area of the field.
    • At least we don't need to hear overreacting about towels ...
    • Actually there is, try being a Charlotte Hornets fan. I mean the team fuging moved at its peak and hasn't recovered since and that was 25 years ago
