LaFell's hands...

Anybody else worried about this or am I reading way to much into it?

Wait for the pre season so you can see him in a game time situation. There are lots of guys who suck in practice and drills that come out and shine when the pressure is on. Is he one of those guys? I have know idea, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt till he proves that he can't handle the ball period. Same goes for D.J. We will see if he was worth a second round pick this season.

If I remember correctly the scouting report said "drops passes in big games" or "drops passes in critical situations. Something to that nature. At any rate. He's going to be our biggest draft mistake this year IMO Unfortunately I also see him costing us a few games before we get rid of him. Thats harsh but I just dont understand drafting a reciever with a reputation for big drops.

So as a PRO

How many passes has La Fell dropped ?

B/C every WR drops passes even Steve has had some of those games.

It's very early in LaFell's training to worry about dropped passes.

Better competition, Better QB's,better trainers in the pro game

Having small hands is something that could plague LaFell. He dropped passes in college, and the competition only gets better in the pros. If he and another guy go up in traffic to get a ball, it's going to be harder for LaFell to get a good grip and bring it down if his hand doesn't wrap the ball as much as the other guy. If we have to play in some weather, it will again be more difficult for him. I'm not saying he won't be good, because my analysis of college to pros usually sucks, but I feel like this could definitely be a problem.

The only thing I can say is that people that watched him at LSU always said he would go

up an get the ball in a jump ball situation or would make

a great catch only to drop an easy one the next play. My buddy said it got so

bad at LSU that they stopped throwing to him in big time situations.

This guy said this while we were watching the combine together and I mentioned lafell so it was way before we drafted him. When we did I shuttered a little bc that's exactly one came to mind. Then to hear that he had a lot of drops at minicamp didn't help. Time will tell, but I will definitely keep my eye on it.

Well, I have a buddy that says your buddy is full of poo.

Put very little in the opinion of 'buddies". They are usually wrong.

Actually that was a pretty good assessment of Lafell. Say what you want about Lafell but its not like he was the only WR available. Roberts IMO is a much better receiver.

FWIW, I follow LSU pretty closely. Lafell definitely dropped a lot of easy ones early in his career. He totally shed that rap in his Jr. and Sr. seasons, at least among the fans. I know I certainly don't remember many drops from him as an upper classmen.

Everything I've read about LaFell said his drops were an issue, so there's no point debating that.

Let's hope some pro coaching helps him. Tolbert made a comment in the Observer that suggested some of his problems were due to poor coaching at LSU.

If he tends to drop easy passes, that's just concentration. Definitely fixable.

Sounds good. Hope it holds true.
