Needing to refinance

Currently 15yr 5.75% fixed.

50k-ish on primary...did addition and have ~60-70k in home equity line. Going to consolidate and redo mortgage.

So looking at around 120K...and value of home will probably be around 225k when done.

Anyone been shopping for rates? Love to stick with 15yr rate.

right now 30 yrs are going from 5.25-5.85...u should be able to get a good deal depending on ure credit score and debt to credit ratio.

Got 5% even 7 years ago on a 30 year VA loan. Only way I am refinancing is if they offer to start paying me interest.

With all the turmoil the last few days, I wonder if it can go a little more towards 4.5% We locked in a few weeks ago, but didn't want to risk it.

I had to read this again to fully understand...

you get a 30 year mortgage and lock in an interest rate for the full 30 years? or is that like a 5 year term on the 30 years?

No...I think he's saying that a lot of lenders will LOCK the current rate for 30 days for you. That's completely independent of the year terms.
