Not-so-popular movies you've seen recently that you surprisingly liked...

I have a habit of scrolling through Encore (free movie channel on TWC) about once a week and DVRing movies that look interesting or that I haven't seen in the past...

Every now and then I'll find a good one that I liked more than I expected I would.

Blindness, a story about life after some sort of disease/event causes a lot of people to go blind, is a pretty good flick...

Miracle at St. Anna is a WW2 movie by Spike Lee about a "supernatural" event that happens to a few black soldiers... This has some pretty good humor in it, even though it tries to convey a spiritual meaning ultimately...

I finally watched Rob Roy in its entirety, and overall, it was a good movie too...

Anyone else seen any surprisingly good movies lately?

There's this little-known french indie flick that I saw up in north charlotte this weekend. Solid acting, good character development, conflicting love interests. It's about a man who puts up a tough exterior and acts like a jerk, but really has a heart of gold and is a hero. It's called Homme de Fer, Le Deuxième, or roughly translated into english, Iron Man 2.

Miracle at St. Anna is absolute garbage. One of the most boring and pointless films ever made.

haha I can see why you'd say that... as a lot of it was boring and pointless... kind of a long movie to tell such a simple story...

I just liked the "Chocolate giant" jokes and the nice rack on that one chick...

...a nice rack often makes up for other bad parts in a movie...

IFC has a lot of obscure movies. 13 Tzameti was on there, it's pretty good. A Russian movie about 13 guys that are forced to/get paid to play a game of Russian Roulette-they each get one bullet, spin the chamber, and stand in a circle pointing at the back of the head in front of them.

Recently watched and enjoyed

Invention of Lying

Paperheart

Up in the Air

The Invention of Lying had soooo much promise, but he just made it into a run of the mill romantic comedy.

Up in the Air made me have a mancrush on George Clooney.
