NFL preview mags are out....

how? he barely played.....

he was in a rotation and splitting time with brayton and johnson, how is that dissapointing?

I guess their rationale is that we spent a 1st rounder to get him so he should have played like one. His production was low. He never really dominated. So I guess that's what you have working against him.

My opinion is a little more optimistic considering we have Ron Meeks as our D coordinator.

He had a very disappointing season and he needs a lot of work. He didn't show anything to change their initial opinions on him.

Mario Williams was the 1st overall pick and he was non-existant his first season, too. It's premature to make a judgement on Brown until after this year.

It will be very interesting to see if the 4 veteran special teams players the Panthers signed as free agents can make the final roster. Will WR Wallace Wright win the 5th WR spot from Jarrett or Gettis? Will the 2 S's (Aaron Francisco and Marcus Hudson)and CB-Marcus Walker win spots ahead of CB's C. J. Wilson, Brian Witherspoon, or the 3 rookie DB (Jordan Pugh, R. J. Stanford, and Robert McClain) draft picks?

I also wonder how could Everette Brown could be rated this way by Athlon? He didn't get a whole lot of snaps last yhor and still had 2.5 sacks. And he looks a lot bigger this year.

And the comment about who will win the battle to throw this years picks?? Matt Moore had 1 last year and Jimmy Clausen had 4. Last year was almost all on #17.

Maybe Stewart will break 200 yds in the inception of their new stadium. I know Williams and Stewart will combine for that much.

RE Matt Moore

"He can hum a deep ball"

Really? Thats the pro analysis?

While they laud the deep ball, throwing it deep wasnt the offense for games at the end of the season. The difference was Moore was very accurate with his passes in the short and intermediate throwing game to multiple receivers sometimes with roll-outs. Even big sort of slow wideouts like moose, jarret or the TEs had catches.

That kept the chains moving and gave more chances to the real solid part of the offense, the running game. Freezing the LBs and safeties out of the center of the field to respect the passing game.

Yes Moore throws a pretty long ball. Jake threw and even prettier long ball. Much as I love the guy, the season started bad and the went to worse. I love the attitude with all or nothing but a great person all the same.

We have (I think) an accurate QB. We know WR Steve Smith is well Smitty, we have the best back tandem in the NFL and good TEs can hit their mark on time. Throw in some rookies who makes an amazing play here or there and who knows?

Defense is another day. Lots of young players but to me, the back seven of this group looks premium. The LBs look VERY good.

Calling Everette Brown a bust at this point totally discredits the analysis. It takes 3 years to fully evaluate a draft pick. They're evaluating Brown as if he's a 1st round pick when a DE drafted in the first round typically is a starter or at the very least gets many more snaps than Brown did.

I tend to have a bad habit of buying more than I should too. The past couple of years I have waited on the Pro Football Weekly version, because they will send out a 2nd edition later in the summer.

So far Athlon's is the only one I've picked up.
