Hollis Thomas to the UFL

Recommended Posts

Found an article reporting Hollis Thomas has been drafted by Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL.

Wish we could have kept him. He exceeded expectations during his tenure here.

He is probably just trying to stay in football shape hoping someone gets injured somewhere and he gets picked up like he did by us last year. He still plays as a pretty high level given his size and age.

Thomas looked good here but a lot of that was because of how poorly all the other DT's around him were playing. He's pretty much the only DT we had all season that didn't get pushed around.

Yea and thats why I dont understand why he dose not get a Roster spot and Nick Hayden loses his.

Like rayzor said I think this year is about venturing into the untested more so than keeping old vets to give solid, substantial results on a consistent basis. The Panthers would rather see what they have to work with and start this year rather than keep Thomas and have the position be a ? next year. This year is the year to do it.

now if the DT position struggles during the season and is a liability then i see them doing much of what they did last year which is keep going out and trying to find someone to stop the gap, but i don't expect that to be really until after the bye week unless it gets really bad early on.

Well sure. But for backups sake. I would imagine he'd have rather stayed here than go to the semi pros

i would imagine he would rather have never left the saints and gotten a ring with them.

for the record, hollis is one of the few guys i wish they had made an exception for and kept around....even as a backup but i think they also want to see what they have in irvin and ed johnson can do and, as much as i hate/don't understand, nick hayden.

i'm not at all in love with the idea of ed johnson, either. not me making the calls, though.

i still dont understand why nick hayden has a job with the panthers, soon as the panthers release him watch him turn into a jovan haye.lol.
he's not making it happen here so i'm not interested in keeping him around. i don't care what he does with another team. if he can't/isn't doing it here...i don't want him. same with haye.

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
