Outside Linebackers

Even with the experimentation of Beason on the outside? And let's not forget that we've been hearing that the coaches are high on Norwood.

Honestly, as unpopular as it would be to fans, Beason would probably shine as a WLB in this system. Much more than he does even now as the MLB. With Connor having the ability to be a really good MLB, it could be the way to go.

The coaches are high on Norwood as a DPR, not so much as a full time starter. At least not from what I have read. Maybe in a year or two.

The experimentation of Beason on the outside is pretty interesting. I'm fine with Connor in the middle, he'll be just fine there.

I think the coaches are high on Norwood because he's just a great football player and a good pass rusher. But he's still pretty poor in coverage so I don't think he actually starts but I'm sure he'll see the field.

Beason would probably shine on the weak side as a pass rusher. But would Connor shine in reading the offense and calling changes?

Sure. Connor is smart and is definately a MLB. Let's not forget the Derrick Brooks didn't make his living at MLB....Beason could shine anywhere and could easly move to weakside if it meant that gave us the strongest trio.

In our system, you need a good WLB--frankly, we may have to put Beason out there because he is the most athletic. Connor is a fine MLB and we won't lose a lot by making that switch when you consider what we would lose by keeping Beason inside and having to play Anderson and Williams. Can Anderson hold down the fort at SLB? He was going to start there anyway.

With our DL so suspect, we have to put our best LBs on the field. Right now, arguably, they are ranked Beason, Anderson, Connor, Williams, Norwood. THere is no shame in that, but we need our best player at WLB. Wild suggestion: Aaron Francisco.

Williams, Beason, Anderson

I really believe Williams is going to be a great player for us, and I want to keep Beason in the middle. Anderson is more than capable of playing the WLB, and I believe he will put up some good numbers.

Let Connor and Norwood be the backups, and let the other camp bodies Ivy or Senn compete for the other backup spot

For now you have to leave it as is and move Williams into the WLB position.

However, I am not convinced that Anderson is a good fit a SLB and that the FO were merely trying to get him into the starting line up as they felt he was too good not to play.

I would not be surprised if Beason is moved all over the place. Just cause he is not always in the middle, does not mean he is not calling the shots. A great example of this is the Briggs position in the Chicago D. He spent a heck of a lot of snaps at the MLB position, despite technically being the WLB. It is all about scheme and I think our experimentation, is more a shift of our LBs in an attempt to always put him in the best position to make a play.

Williams, Beason, Anderson for now

Hybrid later with Williams and Connor featuring heavily depending on what we want to do

Now is the time for experimenting to determine what is the best option. Training camp must be used to get them settled in.

Of course I agree with that, but when you aren't in pads it's difficult to asses how one player is doing in the grand scheme. So for now it would be difficult for whoever they have penciled in, to lose his job before training camp.

Experiment all you like, but training camp will show who is up to the task, so it's impossible to work out now who is starting calibre. Thus for now, Davis' immediate back up AKA Williams is now in the starting position.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
