The Official Huddle Beer Thread

Anyone got any good recommendations for winter seasonals? Preferably from a microbrew?

I'm talking about that cinnamon, ginger, type stuff...but not with too much crazy ingredients

Highland Brewery in Asheville makes Cold Mountain, which is really good. I think it's starting to hit Total Wine stores right now.

A lot of the guys in this thread are big fans of Great Lakes Christmas Ale. I've never had it, but most agree it's one of the best out there. I think a place called Custom Home Pubs in Matthews just got it in, and we may see it at Harris-Teeters or Total Wine.

I just got back from the Dominican republic where we stayed at an all inclusive resort. Only problem is that they only have 1 beer at the hotel and in the while country. Presidente.....ugh. luckily they did have jack Daniels.

I was wondering where you'd been!

Whenever there are no good beers to be had, I'll switch to wine or bourbon. :yesnod:

it was funny because the first day at the restaurant they asked me what I wanted to drink. So I said what kind of beers do you have? The non english speaking waitress just had a blank stare on her face and kept saying cerveza, cerveza? Then I went through the whole resort looking and all they had was a tap for Presidente. Lets just say I was sooo disappointed. Oh well.

Beaux sorry for the late response on the mocha stout!

Absolutely loved it, went great with my dinner and I ended up drinking all six in one night. Not much of an expert on how to analyze/critique beer, but I enjoyed this particular craft. Aroma was a pleasure for the nose, and the after taste was my favorite aspect.

Thanks again my man!

Cool, glad you liked it! That beer as well as Highland's Oatmeal Porter were the beers that got me into craft beer.

I had breakfast for dinner last night. Biscuits with homemade sausage, cheese grits, hashbrowns and eggs. Of course, I had to have a coffee stout with this meal, so I went with Bell's Java Stout -- which almost tastes like cold, black coffee. I love it.

My dog is pouting under the table because I wouldn't let her have any of it.

    • The vast majority of mocks from the past week suggests Sadiq, then Freeling, McNeil-Warren, Cooper Jr   https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/teams/2026/carolina-panthers
    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
