Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Took the kids to it last week. Its one of the islands in the Islands of Adventure park run by Universal.

It was very crowded but if you or your little ones are Potter fans they will love it. It looked a lot like the movies to me. The main ride in the castle was really good, it was a lot like the Haunted Mansion at Disney. The kids liked the shops with all the candies from the movies and books. I had a glass of Butter Beer which was delish.

The rest of the park was fun. Plenty for the kids to do and many rides that splash water all over you, a good thing in the summer. The Jurassic Park ride was kick ass. The Hulk roller coaster was great.

We paid the extra for the express pass which I would not do without. It saved us about 6 hours of time standing in line at the end of the day. The wait for the Harry Potter roller coaster (which lasted about 15 seconds) was an hour. We were on and off it in 3 minutes.

    • You might want to look at that table again.  Round 2 has the least QB's taken in that time period. What is more interesting is how the "darts at a dart board" happens in the 6th and 7th round. Those are the 2nd and 3rd most frequently drafted rounds for NFL QB's.  If you are strictly using my criteria for "success" it does lend credence to that not being an awful strategy. At 17-21% chance to get a bare minimum of 30+ starts OR a 5+ year career. That's pretty good for a very throwaway pick. I don't know how that would compare to other positions. I would maybe have to adapt what I have done to something like PFR's Career AV to set a line that accomplished roughly the same result as I have from the spreadsheet. If I can get to a number value, applying this to each position wouldn't be that hard. Not sure how "fair" that is without making some adjustment based on averages for each position. I would have to do that as well, I think. A positional "handicap" of sorts.
    • While I agree he should have the opportunity to select his own qb, following that does he then get the standard 3 years? New regimes mean new qbs. No coach should tie his future to someone they didn't actually pick. For whatever reason, Canales has done just that. Whether it is being strong armed by Tepper, or overwhelming hubris that he could be successful with Young, it sure seems he has now made his bed.
    • One of the benefits of doing a few stints as a coordinator is working under different head coaches and observing how they do things.  Canales has worked under Pete Caroll and then he was an OC for 1 season. Honestly I think he needs more time in the oven and he might be good at his next HC gig.  I'm not sure he's ready for this job and I don't know that he will ever be. But hey I hope I'm wrong.
