Micheal Lombardi breaks down the NFC, panthers included...

He lost his best rusher (Julius Peppers), and must rely on Everette Brown to fill the void. Furthermore, he has two offensive tackles coming off of injuries, he lost a starting linebacker in offseason camps, he does not have a dependable second wide receiver, he has two very young players at quarterback, and he has a coaching staff working on one-year deals, with no guarantee of his own future.

At the end of last year we probably had a worse situation but we were one of the hottest teams in the league. No Davis, injured tackles, 1 young QB, a mentally checked out Peppers, injured D Will.

We get our tackles and D Will back but absolutely cant make the playoffs?

Heck, even here, when we got David Carr there were people who were dead certain he'd be the guy we needed. One of the most often cited reasons was "he was a #1 overall pick".

Just because it was cited as a number one reason(per your recollection) does not give it any validation. The fact that it was cited on this site as a valid reason actually defames it more than supports it in my opinion.

Draft position, even #1 over all does not guarantee any level of success on the field and anyone who says different is an idiot. The only valid reason why people felt David Carr was the guy for the Panthers is because David Carr was not Jake Delhomme. Anything beyond that was pure speculation and lip service.

The point I was making was that it wasn't valid :sosp:

I think so go the lines so go the Panthers.

Hopefully Gross will be back; Otah, guy is a concern, he is hurt, a lot or perhaps I'm just spoiled by Gross always being in there.

Depth to me is the issue as well on the D-line, of course, changes will come before opening day.

I like Brown; but, I just don't see him as an every down, DE.
