Barnidge the Panthers second best receiver?

Recommended Posts

Football Outsiders calls tight end Gary Barnidge the Panthers' second-best receiver.

Barnidge, a fifth-round pick in 2008, clearly has significant talent as a pass-catcher. But the Panthers have been very hesitant to use him and he had just 12 catches a year ago. Barnidge remains on the Dynasty radar as a stash candidate in case the Panthers start utilizing his skills.

Does anyone agree with this assesment?

in training camp last year he was the most impressive and targeted receiver i saw not named steve smith. of course goodson was impressive as well last year but i think barnidge was/is more ready to play a bigger role in the pros.

jake was targeting him very frequently last year. not sure why that didn't happen in the regular season last year but hopefully moore will use him.

Exactly, it was training camp. Jake was good in training camp as well. I want to see his on-field production before I declare him the Panthers second best receiver.

I'm not completley sold in Barnidge yet but he does have all the tools. I don't think I've ever seen him make many tough catches with a saftey bearing down on him or if he's gone over the top of anybody.

Most of his big plays are long catch and runs. I'm not even sure if these website aren't just looking at the stats sheets.

It's all up to Davidson and Fox. I know collectively our TEs had decent numbers, but if one guy is THAT good, you may as well use his talents every single game. I get it, we're a run first team, blah blah blah. Well we haven't exactly been in the Super Bowl doing that now have we? It's time to shake things up.

Things in our playbook are going to change considering we have a QB that actually doesnt turn the ball over constantly. I loved Delhomme but he out stayed his welcome and really hurt our teams the past couple years. Moore is a good enough QB who can run our offense and make the throws when he needs to.
