Carolina Panthers Close to Signing Terrell Owens????

The Panthers won't sign Owens for the same reason the Seahawks won't snag him.

Nobody is arguing that he isn't a great player. And I think most people feel that Owens - although he always disproves it - is READY to GROW UP!

BUT that's not the point. The point is, the Panthers like the Seahawks have some young kids they want to try out. If you bring in Owens, it's like your saying, "we have no faith in you..."

Yes. If you want to WIN NOW, trying your luck on young unproven talent doesn't make sense --- but that's the point - the team doesn't want to win now! The Panthers are convenience there will be a lock out. Their goal is to get through this season. That's it. There are no short term goals and any desire for quick fixes like Owens.

Maybe I overlooked it, but no one said anything about developing our young QB's. I've seen this will make make it harder for our young WR's to get on the field and develop. Well not having a solid WR next to Smith is going to make it very hard for Our young QB's to Develop as well. Not saying I want T.O or anything even though I wouldn't mind it. I am just saying we need help at WR if we want Moore or Clausen to be successful.

TO helped so much with Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick's development in Buffalo.

Once again, it's people saying no because they are pretending they are the gm. When push comes to shove if you want to win then you have to put the best players out there on the field and if it happens to be Terrell Owens then "It is what it Is"

I recall a lot of people bashing the Bobcats for trading for Stephen Jackson who had more issues and baggage than T.O. does. However the Bobcats organization has the right people involved to help an individual change his ways and so do the Panther. Hurney, Fox, and Richardson are some of the classiest guy's out there which is why it took them so long to break up with the beloved Jake Delhomme and if anyone can turn a man's life around it would be those three.

I am looking at T.O. as a football player. If I was looking for someone that I wanted to sit around and bake cookies with I would have gone to Kenny Moore, but I want a football player and that is what T.O. is.

I would welcome him here.

Throw the ball to T.O. Baby.

Sorry Anquan Boldin and Randy Moss you guys aren't welcome here either because we are looking to have a tea party not a Super Bowl Party.

The NBA has a greater tolerance for thugs than does the NFL. Combine that with the fact that Jax has never been much of a locker room problem and you should easily see the difference between he and TO.

This is a fact- TO has played for exactly 4 NFL teams:

SF-traded his ass to Baltimore where TO then refused to play and the NFL had to step in to avoid the drama queen making a bigger clown out of himself than he already was.

PHI-while still being very productive, Philly ran his ass out of town and suspended him mid-season.

DAL-if a clown can't fit into Dallas, then something is very wrong with him. He couldn't fit into Dallas and they subsequently told him to take a hike.

BUF-a team with absolutely nothing going for it and facing an ever-disgruntled fan base and rampant rumors about a move to Toronto quietly tells TO to go the hell on.

There is no denying the guy's talent just like there is no denying that 4 teams have already told him adios even though he was still productive. The Panthers won't be that 5th team to take a flyer on a guy soon to be 37 years old.

I don't think I'd like to see of our existing WR corps having to go to waivers to make a spot for TO. If this were a year where we thought we're one skill position away from the playoffs/championship/Super Bowl...sure. But honestly, everyone knows we're rebuilding and bringing in kryptonite to a youthful team is just not very smart.

I'd be surprised if it happens. Jacksonville seems like the better fit, but what do I know.
