Free Agency: QB Musical Chairs

Ward and Sanders are really mid first to mid second round guys in a stronger class.

And I translate that to a group of QBs If you eliminate the top 15 picks, that have a pretty low success rate as day 1 starters.  That is why, in my view, these bridge QBs are probably going to go to teams that also draft a QB. If you have to sign a veteran mentor and develop your QB for a year, why not just wait a year and draft some pieces to go around the eventual QB?  I think I'd rather have a Geno Smith and Will Howard than Shedeur Sanders under center day 1.

I think that's possible but the odds of any of those QB's outside Ward/Sanders being more than backups is very, very low IMO.

Worst class since 2022.

We shall see, but this QB group is bad.  When the #1 overall pick has nothing at QB and they are in trade talks, that tells you something.  In 2034, I will look back at the QB group and I am willing to bet that either all of them busted or the most successful was not Ward or Sanders.  Not to say that I would not gamble on Ward because I am wrong about QBs a lot, but my common sense tells me that if I am going to gamble on a QB this year, do it in round 2 and beyond.

I am just looking forward to free agency and the dust that settles afterwards.  Then we will have a better idea--but I think there are teams that like Ewers, Howard, Dart, and maybe a few others--not sure about Milroe---but the odds are against them ever starting.  Of course, you have your Bradys, Purdys. Wilsons, Cousins, etc. and I have a hunch that one in that "second tier" group.  A lot of these guys are transfers in the new portal turnstiles--and I know how confusing it is for a QB to learn a new system with new personnel.  I watch for the moment the light seems to have come on and judge from that point.

I think Sanders has a very good shot at being a middle of the pack or slightly above NFL starter for a long time. Ward it just depends on what end of the gunslinger scale he falls on. Is he on the Favre/Winston end or the Mayfield/Stafford end?

So no one here predicted Geno being traded to Raiders?!??!?

YOU BUNCH OF FRAUDS!!!11!!!!

I don’t even remember him being traded as recent speculation by media outlets. I think that was fairly surprising.

 100%

Im just in here busting balls is all. No one across the league thought geno would be traded and not to the raiders.

All I read was Seattle was offering 35-40 per in a new deal and geno didn't agree and asked to be traded right after. Within a couple days he was traded to LV before it leaked he was on the block.

I mean, I guess in fairness to Geno I would be pissed about being valued less than Prescott, Love, Lawrence, Tua, Goff, Murray, Watson and Cousins.

In fairness to Seattle, I don't think I would want to have a $45+ mil Smith on my roster.

Yes it seems Geno took it as they didn't value him and wanted out. For me, he is very hard to place a value on. I still remember he had great run in either 22 or 23, he was top 3 in MVP voting and its mid season. He dropped to earth some, but still he looked way better than 2021 Wilson .

NGL, before BY got in forward gear, I was thinking about Geno to Panthers in some way....this was before Dave came abroad.

I know there is talk about Sam Darnold, Ive also heard they love Sam hollwitzer.

I also heard Seattle wanted to move on from Geno and Pete stood by him, they wanted a full rebuild deal. Then the new builder HC got there and couldn't move Geno, when into the season and "fell" back into love with Geno........mid-QB pay love it seems. It's odd how its playing out.

They may be in the market for a trade up in order to draft Sanders, rumor mill is out of control in south Alaska....

I promise---I nearly predicted it, (kicking myself) but I decided to keep it with the free agents.  I have Pete Carroll taking Wilson, but I know they did not see eye to eye at the end, but I didn't make the call.  I have learned that if you make a lot of predictions you are right a lot more than if you dont!

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
