I'm going to approach this season the way I do Will Ferrell movies.

ZERO expectations. I mean it. With Will's movies I know I'm not going to get a Brando or Depp like performance. Stunts like Jackie Chan. Depth like Hanks or twists like M Night.

I check that at the door, get a small popcorn(no butter) and a Cherry Icee Slush and party on rock star.

So ima(as the young kids say) gonna do the same with the Panthers. They cleaned house, well by God so am I. New slate for me too.

I'm even gonna have to buy a program for the first time since 96 just see see who these cats are and even learn their bio's cold. Forget coming up with a nickname for the D Line. This guy just wants to be able to name a guy playing NT.

Do yourself a favor and join me on my popcorn movie quest for this season and ride the wave of zero expectations and tons of fun.

Think about those roadtrips where you didn't have things all planned out and junk. You just got in your car and drove. And you had a friggin blast.

2010 Panther's Football, Just Play Football baby.

I don't feel like I can get into that kind of mindset. I can get into the mindset knowing that if we suffer some serious injuries that I won't get mad at the losses knowing that we'll have some pretty modest backups.

I feel like are starters are experienced and talented enough that we aren't in a rebuilding year.

If the season is anything like this dialogue we will be undefeated.

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.

Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.

Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?

Ron Burgundy: No. No.

Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.

Ron Burgundy: Agree to disagree.

Movies like Anchorman and Step Brothers push the "stupid" envelope to the max, you can't help but laugh.

I loved Leslie Nielson movies as a kid but you knew those were stupid. Will Ferrel Movies are set up like standard comedy which makes the stupid so much more obvious.

I'm with you, dude. I think there's something strangely liberating about just sitting down to catch a game with no expectations for a change. And let's face it - win, lose or draw, it's football! Thank God the season's finally here! Sitting down at the stadium or with good friends, turning up a few cold ones, grilling up some burgers or steaks, wearing your team's colors and talking trash whether it's based in fact and reality or not - does it get any better than that? And even if your team loses, there's always next week - at least until mid January. There'll be plenty of time to fret over performances and the win loss columns later. Right now, I'm just pumped for football again.

    • DC is way out of his league being a head coach. He’s shown no adaptability and therefore has no business calling plays. His ‘leadership’ style, I’m not quite sure what it is. I want to hire the Bobs so they can ask him “what would you say, ya do here?” He needs an alpha QB to mask his own innate deficiencies so he appears better than he truly is. He does not have that and everyone clearly sees that the emperor has no clothes.  Bryce is siren that has led an already unmoored franchise in to the rocks. There’s a 3 stooges metaphor in there somewhere, but I’ll leave that for someone else. I’m tired. All I keep hearing in my brain is Steve Miller Band take the money and run.  So yes, the trio of Evero, Bryce and Canales can all please just go. I’m tired of seeing wounded ducks flying and players who on most weeks look woefully unprepared and completely lost. I still hold firm in my feeling that talent does exist on this ‘team,’ but it is only by an individual effort that they have found any measure of success. VERY rarely does it feel cohesive in any way. It’s clunky and unpolished…. But it’s just how lost they look most of the time. What do they even do at practice?
    • It is hard to call him a bust with the issues at QB. Seeing a guy running open and being missed over and over doesn't make him a bust. He has made some tough catches and made some routine catches that were on target. He has also flubbed some routine plays as well. He is an inconsistent second year WR, but he is also playing with a wildly inconsistent and at times underperforming QB.
    • I’ll never forget when Mike Jackson complimented all of the WR’s with specific descriptions. When he got to XL he pretty much said “Well XL tries”. He legit couldn’t think of anything good to say about XL. Facts are you could see he was a bust last year. He just had the convenient “he’s a rookie excuse” built in. You could see it this year in training camp in all of the 1v1 videos with him running his clunky routes, no separation. The way he moves, the way he catches, his non existent  football IQ. Unfortunately he’s not an NFL WR. I’ll always have a hard time taking Dan Morgan seriously for taking XL and Brooks b2b.
