I feel like this Horn situation is going the same way as Burns, meaning a player expecting top of the market money when they're not really worth it. They might be better off using that money on pass rushers in FA and use 8 to draft a CB.

The extra sad part is guess what??- ickey is same problem about giving top dollar to.

Look Im a big horn fan, he's been a pro since day one and his biggest problem is working too hard. But the guy has never finished a season healthy and missed half his games.

If he is firm in wanting some 100million(more that that MUCH better sustain) 4 year deal....... too rich for me given his injury history and failure to finish the season. I mean think of the rare chance the Panthers make the playoffs, they are going to play them without horn, so what's the point?

Icky has highs and lows and LT are rare....there's still feeling that he's not a LT. Panthers going to give him 150million over 5 with 80 million guaranteed?????? Jesus that's hard to agree too

fuging Panthers, its not easy on those two big decisions. Hell they been losing with both on the roster the last 3-4 years, but each is going to want difference/playmaker money......unfair...I doubt either would get much return in draft picks, another problem....

Surtain got a 4 year 96 million dollar contract. And while Horn was a brightspot, we still have the worst defense in the league (with or without). That contract would have to be insanely incentive based..

I guarantee he is negotiating based on Surtain's deal. I am a Gamecock fan, so not a hater at all-- Understand that I was born in Columbia when my father played for the Gamecocks--and I have been against nearly every pick.  Travelle Wharton  (I spoke to him every year at OTAs--great guy) is my favorite.   Why was I against Horn?  I wanted Surtain and I despised his father.

    • We could quibble about was that an answer to what I asked but I  don’t see it as being one. Look, he agreed to this Evero thing. Up front. Apparently anyway. Took the job with those conditions in place. I buy that and will work off of it.  This play calling issue isn’t the same thing. I am not in the mood to delve into Canales’ shortcomings and get out the pitchforks at the moment. I will abstain from that topic and stick to the quandary the dissenters who want to usurp his play calling power, find themselves in. As far as that goes I am still on the fence and think the play calling is Bryce centric and the play selection/playbook is affected. That does not mean I know that if the playbook was open he would be great play caller. Just that he is hampered right now.  Inserting an OC not of Canales’ approval changes the original parameters of the assumed agreement.  Unless you think Tepper placed a contractual prescription to allow Tepper to dictate that he can insert a play caller of his choosing after a time period if he is not satisfied with Canales’ work.  Which, do you really think that is in play?  I do not.    Unless it is, Canales has the option to yea or nay. As I said, it could be forced on him. But they only do that if they want him out.  And as of now his stock is up, I would have to say I don’t own any but I think it is up. He had the stadium rocking, the team in the playoffs, and has that sorry lil draft pick trending upward. Even at this very low rate.  I think he has ‘hand’ right now as they say on Seinfeld. This is something that may get play in the 2026 season, not now. IMO.
    • Canes now have 19 losses on the year. Here is the truly alarming stat. 13 of those were multiple goal loses. 9 of those were 3 goal plus losses. This team is getting blown out more than any other year under Rod.     why?  Blue line is a total mess. It’s just no good with their combinations.  It pains me to say this, but they were mikes better with Burns and Orlov. They need Slavin so bad.  Health.  Size. The team is too small and has no physical play. Most forwards do not forecheck.  Worst under Rod.  Goalie play. Pretty average to sub par. PK is downright bad. It’s allowing a little over a goal a game. Worst under Rod.    Team will not win a playoff round under its current group of players. It’s not constructed to do so against heavy teams.      solutions.  Must get physical size by the trade deadline. Rod and Tulsky know this. That probably has to come with the 2C.  KKs size but a better scorer and meaner.  The need another physical winger.  Goalie. Either go all in on a top guy on a bad team or get average. Lastly, better defense. Need a Right shot heavy defenseman.  Yes that could mean someone’s favorite dman could sit. Looking at you Boom.    thats 3-4 new guys that must be brought in for them to have a chance at a cup.  And it’s all players that are different and better than what they have.  They have the cap. KK is gone. Add 4 mill back.    And then hope it’s jells unlike Mikko.
