What's the next domino to fall?

I feel like this Horn situation is going the same way as Burns, meaning a player expecting top of the market money when they're not really worth it. They might be better off using that money on pass rushers in FA and use 8 to draft a CB.

Horn I suspect is gonna take a little while to work on. Also, not sure if that will be a priority at the moment because they have free agency opening up very soon.

I think we will are probably done with our own guys at the moment and will hit free agency hard before maybe circling back to guys like BC, etc.

I think they are going to let BC and Jackson hit the market and hope they return home humbled and ready to negotiate a new deal.

As for Horn, I am not yet drinking his Kool Aid.  I know that he is a talented CB, and I know that we are paying for future production and not past performance, but paying him is more of a gamble than it should be.  If he is unwilling to take an incentives-based contract, I would not consider paying him top dollar.  Heck, if we get better at DT and edge, an average CB becomes a good CB.

Aussie, I have an idea that the Panthers will sign a DL and S early in free agency.  I also have a feeling that those deals are expensive and already in place to be announced Monday AM.

FWIW, my phone has not been ringing, so it looks as if another year as a free agent will come and go.  I am starting to think it is due to my age (over 50), limited college experience as a backup, injury history, skill level, physical inferiority, and anonymity.  But you never know.

Well, we got one uninjured and good season from him. And a handful of partial ones due to injuries.

He may get paid a lot more out there on the market than we can wisely do, so... it might be Jaycee's preference to hit the market more than our reluctance to offer a decent contract.

Would like to see him back, but he can't get Top 10 or Top 15 money.

I agree. I think we have largely made our moves for the moment and are going to "shop" a little before circling back to our current guys. Outside Jackson and maybe Woods, I don't think there will be a lot of interest in what we have hitting the market.

I feel the same about Horn. I am glad he was finally healthy, that was amazing. However, he also wasn't elite. He was just good. So if he is gonna come at us with a top 10 CB ask, I just can't stomach that personally and I would probably actually consider moving him before the draft if that is the way it is going to go. fug the tagging and all that nonsense, get some draft assets and go get another very good CB in the draft instead at a reasonable price tag. I was a Surtain guy orginally, so the whole Horn situation is very frustrating overall.

Surtain got a 4 year 96 million dollar contract. And while Horn was a brightspot, we still have the worst defense in the league (with or without). That contract would have to be insanely incentive based..

    • ^I want that, but Rodriguez over KC. Don't hate KC as much at that spot, but rather take a WR with the pick we gain in that trade than in the 1st.
    • I think there is good points in this thread to what the team needs to do. 1) Ball isn't really the issue but, he needs reigned in.  Coach and he need to realize when things aren't falling from the three and learn to play other facets of the game.  He's an amazing talent and when he's on, he's on.  But he can also shoot you out of a game.  We're lucky Miami went that way but that is too many missed threes.  He still needs to bulk up if he can, but he needs to drive more.  He's pretty good at finishing usually and hopefully the fouls come (probably not though).   2) The whole team needs to be more physical.  As others have stated, we need more bulk in our bigs.  Diabate is a hurricane of energy but cannot go against the larger centers.  I love him on the team but he should be more of a match up type guy or energy off the bench.  I think he'd be insane off the bench.  However I think the biggest issue with Diabate and Kaulk is the lack of offensive game.  The lack of a jump shot or anything.  Teams figured out to just leave them on the screen and crash lanes.  There has to be some sort of threat.  We need a 4 and a 5 that can do those things and stretch out the court. 3) Bridges.  He's just undersized.  However, I feel he really threw his all into it the last few weeks when others were gassed.  He was ok not being a focal point.  I'd like to have him off the bench as well but I assume he'd be traded to make things work.  4) Miller.  Dude can light it up when on, but disappears for quarters at a time.  Also he needs to work on ball handling and passing.  He's a turnover machine at bad times.  Also hopefully over the injury so he can bulk up too.   5) Kon. Just a rookie.  Long season and back injury.  I have no doubt he'll be back stronger and focused.  Needs to work on defense and physicality like the whole team but yes, a rookie he'll get there. 6) Coby.  Has to be resigned, no question.  The bench lineup is rough without him running the point.  Team has big potential and the front office seems sharp.  They seen the hive and how crazy it got and how much the city wants this.
