Armanti Edwards....

Formula for successful posting on the Huddle...

Post an opinion.

If everybody agrees with the opinion, make sure you take full credit for being the first to bring it up and let everybody pat you on the back and give you pie.

If your opinion is wrong, and several posters point this out with facts to back it up, claim you were trolling and had everybody fooled.

Who will know the difference?

All I said when talking out of my ass was that he didn't sound very intelligent...

That is an opinion, and I still stand by it...

Some responded by throwing Pep and Gamble out there pretty much saying the same thing about them that I did about AE... I'd have to disagree...

As I stated before, I hope Armanti proves me wrong... I really do.. for the Panthers' sake, and his own...

Hell, he is probably smarter than I am for all I know, which doesn't take much...

I didn't read the whole thread, but I thought this would be important to mention if it hasn't been yet: According to what I just looked up, there's a great chance that Mardy Gilyard will at least be the slot receiver for the Rams this season if not the #2 receiver. He's looking very solid already.

No offense, but that sounds rather homeristic...

Gamble played at one of the top colleges for football... Peppers is pretty much a freak of nature, and an unrivaled talent at his position...

Armanti did neither of these things... He is an athletic talent that was in a system and conference which made him shine...

Need I remind you that Dameyune Craig still holds the NFL record for passing yards in a sanctioned event? Whatever happened to him?

All I am saying is that I think reaching for Edwards might not pay off like taking Gilyard would have...

As I have hinted at elsewhere, I am tired of constantly building for tomorrow, and want to win now...

All that said, I still think we are going to surprise a lot of people this season, and could be a contender if the pieces fall into place right... I hope nothing but the best for all of our players... Armanti included!

Gamble played as a WR at OSU and never played CB till he came here. It was a bumpy ride to start with but he paned out well. Being a starting WR at OSU did not help him out at CB. Also T.Davis was another one that had a rough start but came out to shine. I think Edwards will do the same. I think he will start out slow but in year two or three he will break out. Now many things can happen but all I have heard out of him is positive things.

lil more info on Gamble

In 38 games, he started 18 times on defense and 12 times on offense (started on both offense and defense in five contests in 2002). Recorded 65 tackles (51 solos) with three stops behind the line of scrimmage, seven interceptions and 21 pass deflections. Also caught 40 passes for 609 yards (15.2 avg.), rushed six times for 68 yards (11.3 avg.) with a touchdown, returned 60 punts for 467 yards (7.8 avg.) and had 18 kickoff returns for 384 yards (21.3 avg.).

Then he was even slower to progress then I thought. If he had experience at CB you could not tell it his rookie year. Also what I have said about Davis still remains true. He came from a Smaller collage(Georgia) and seemed to do alright.

From what I hear he is fighting to stay on the roster with a guy that was on a pratice squad last year. info

I'm just surprised he's having such a hard time catching the punts, makes me wonder how good of a WR he will really be, I guess I was a little confused on what they say that made them want to draft this QB and convert him to all this stuff, I haven't seen App state and didn't know him prior to us drafting him

Dont get a PR guy confused with a WR. Two different animals right there. There are a ton of great WRs that could not catch a punt if it meant there life. Punt returning is very difficult and some people just cant do it. On the other hand some can be great Punt returners but horrible Kick return guys so that just shows you how different things can be.

"I think Panthro's comment of him playing 8 years of HS ball may be pretty accurate."

just like darren sharper coming from william and mary? or joe flacco coming from delaware? or how bout brad hoover from w.carolina? those are just some of the players off the top of my head that came from that league. he didnt play 8 years of high school ball.

    • Call me crazy but if you’re in the bottom 7 in efficiency using Zone 84% of the time why not try something else? You paid Jaycee top 5 CB money use him more effectively. Zone is only efficient if you can generate a good pass rush to force a QB into mistakes otherwise you will get picked apart
    • Good Lord this board has become a cesspool of negativity and where fandom becomes something twisted and unrecognizable.
    • Yeah, I could jump right into the unbelievable Bryce debate now that some people are trying to flip the script because Bryce Young has, at most, a handful of decent games as a pro, but that's going to work itself out. Suffice it to say that I've seen better QBs (with an s) in a Panthers uniform, and I've certainly seen better QBs be drafted while we're playing around with Bryce, one of them who beat the crap out of us already this season... Let's forget about Bryce (and his markedly underwhelming play since he's been here); I think that most sane fans will agree that drafting him was an error, but it happens. Sure, it doesn't happen to the tune of King's ransom---including your main receiver---but it happens. You bet, you lose. Speaking of receivers...and betting and losing... Oh, man, we drafted Xavier Legette. Yes, just like with Bryce, I've entered "the dark side." Some Huddlers were telling us from the beginning, and they were right. But, I'm not apologizing for waiting to see what a guy's got before making my decision on him. X was a one-year wonder at South Carolina who parlayed some really nice production that season, a great personality and thick country accent, into becoming a first round pick (but only in Carolina). For Dan Morgan and company, He was a big swing that has turned into a big whiff (and I can still feel the ill breeze from that one). Sh¡t happens, right? Well, not so fast. Ladd McConkey was the decidedly more polished receiver who was literally ready to hit the ground running as soon as stepping onto the field as a pro. Ladd was never the biggest guy (though not the smallest), but he was the guy that could run routes, always seemed to get open---no question---and had the same speed as X, but with legit quickness and nuanced shake and bake. But Dan chose the project. He chose the guy where the game speed looks more like a tractor trailer than a 5.0 mustang. Look, I've supported X (just like Bryce) many many a day, but no more. Now I'm not saying that I won't root for the guy. Just like with Bryce, he seems like a great kid. But as far as giving excuses for the kid, and, perhaps more importantly, waiting for some miraculous breakout, I'm done with that. I've seen enough. You don't draft a project for a project. And yes, Bryce had proven to be a project after his first season. In my mind, drafting a supposedly number one receiver that needs lots of development for a starting quarterback that needs immediate help to try and further his development is not going to lead to good things. Pick the surest guy. Or at least pick the one who appears to be the surest guy, because picking can be tricky... especially when you're too busy tricking yourself.
