clausen gaining...

The national media has been spinning this Clausen scenario since draft day....that Clausen will be playing this year and it is only a matter of when. They never have a clue or try to have a clue about what is going on.

All reports out of camp say Moore is significantly ahead of all QBs. Moore has already taken over that role as the #1 in his actions. Panthers gave Clausen a contract where they wouldn't feel like he HAD to see the field anytime soon.

Matt Moore is the starting QB. Only way he isn't is if he plays horrible and looks to be a different guy we have seen thus far.

Fox doesn't like Moore. Thinks he's a moron.

I read a Fox quote in the observer. He said that money and salary wouldn't determine who played between Clausen and Cantwell. He said that he has had guys play well who didn't make much money and others who made lots of money and didn't play well. ( I think we know who he is talking about)

He said it would be decided on the field. Whoever played better would get the job.....

Of course everythig points to Moore as the starter and barring injury he will be his guy. Remember he never said he didn't like Moore. It was reported that he wasn't a Fox type of player. From what I see, that has changed. Moore is doing all the things that Fox wants him to do. I bet Fox is feeling pretty good right now.

Fox has certainly played rookies in his past. Peppers, Godfrey, Keary Colbert, Otah, Stewart, Beason and others all received significant playing time in their rookie seasons. His attachment to Delhomme was unusual though.

peppers was the number 2 pick of this draft.

I've heard he doesn't like him still, which would explain the Clausen pick.

I actually think the Clausen vs Cantwell discussions will cease a few games into the pre-season. Unless Clausen has serious jitters or happy feet out there, his mechanics and big-game experience should carry him. It may not sound relevant, but Clausen has probably played more games on national TV than almost anyone on the Panthers team (few veteran exceptions). As I keep saying all else equal it is his job to lose no matter what sound bytes are told to the press.
