CatMan's Fan Fest observations

- Either our 2nd team defense is really good or our 1st team offense has some work to do. Matt Moore threw a beautiful deep ball to Kenny Moore, but Kenny couldn't catch up with it, and that was the highlight of the day...

- On one particular play, Moore was flushed out of the pocket and attempted to throw a pass to the sideline that should have been picked off easily by C.J. Wilson for 6, but it bounced off his hands.

- Greg Hardy, James Anderson and "The" Marcus Hudson were all credited with sacks. Charles Johnson was credited with a pressure that caused Hunter Cantwell to fumble. I would have credited Brayton with another sack. Quinton Culberson shot around the edge and tackled DeAngelo Williams in the backfield.

- Dan Connor was in the middle of every play and was credited with a few tackles/assists. I'm starting to think he may be the biggest sleeper on this team.

- Derek Landri was lining up with the 1st team defense, Tank Tyler was there and played but he was lined up with the 2nd team.

- The Panthers were kind enough to hand out fans to the fans, great idea.

- Jeff King's wife is smoking hot.

Is Norwood playing more like a rush LB or DE? He really strengthens the line having him over the TE.

I imagine when he comes in Connor will come out so we can get better coverage guys.

Norwood was lined up at SLB based on what I saw today, don't recall seeing him line up at DE.

Moore caught up with the ball just fine, it just went right through his hands. It was right in front of me, and this is one he needs to make.

it's pretty tough to gauge the offense during preseason and fan fests or whatever since there is no real rhythm or timing being established by the offense..all the defense has to do is cover their guy and meet at the QB in these basic kinds of situations.

that 3rd preseason game is really the only one were we can at least get a small sample of that but it still doesn't compare to 4 quarters of live action.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
