Given the choice (#2)...

Mr. Scot

I think we only carry five, with the fifth being Wallace Wright if he lives up to the camp hype (didn't see him tonight).

I had pondered whether we'd look at Marko Mitchell (released by the Redskins, later with the Lions and now with the Vikings) but there's no indication we would.

Best case scenario: LaFell or Gettis steps up and shows something.

Well, the good thing is that you can't really nail down anyone as having the job already except Steve, so everyone is on equal footing it seems.

I would anticipate LaFell steps up over Gettis, however.

haha oh you best believe that! But my honest opinion of that play is that it should have been called for Jarrett.. I believe that he makes that play because that's his bread and butter, thats what he did so much and succeeded at USC.

That was a pretty play; would've been beautiful had he caught it.

I think the one thing the Panthers shouldn't and won't do is judge Jarrett on one preseason game this year. For him it's always been about consistency week-to-week so his preseason will be evaluated as one entity to see if he will be dependable and consistent, both in his focus and his execution.

Showing something in one game or playing really poorly in one game is something he's done repeatedly in the past. If it's apparent that's not going to change then there's really no reason to hang on to him this year, cheap contract or no.

Not going to happen.

Jarrett and Moore looked the best of the receivers last night IMO. Jarrett catches whatever you throw his way, but he looks incredibly slow off of the line.

I just told you Jarrett doesn't beat out Moore.

Moore ain't built to play the #2 in Fox's system on a consistant basis.

Jarrett made two good grabs. He does what he has shown he can do when you look his direction. Not be flashy. Not look like Jerry Rice. But he will make the grabs.

LaFell looked like a rookie WR last night. Moore ain't big enough to own the 2spot.

Moore made a nice play - majority of the time a WR ain't coming down w/ that or it is picked. I thought Jarrett's called back catch was nicer.

    • One of his handful of good games... If he can ever get to a consistently high level, then he'd change minds. As it is... Meh.
    • People are also jumping to the conclusion that Darnold would have figured it out here. I very much disagree. He needed a place where he could be a backup for a while with no pressure. So all the pining over him was pointless. Highly unlikely he would do anything but continue to fail had he stayed here. The one that got away was Baker. He was not as bad as he seemed here. He was always a good player but we were a two bit, middle of the road college program grasping at straws. Had we invested the time in Baker that we have done for Bryce, history would have been quite a bit different. To what end, who knows? Doesn't matter. There are a million hindsight stories that are very unkind to this franchise. There is no one that is more significant than the other. It is what it is.
    • He’s a serviceable starter for us that doesn’t cost much. The reason he doesn’t cost much is that he has flaws, one of which appears to be catching the ball.  It would be good to have a better corner opposite JC but he’s not at the top of the list when it comes to people we need to upgrade.
