Want a laugh?...Skip Bayless calls Clausen "A Poor Man's Jeff George"

Jimmy Clausen will always be a preseason tease, reg-season disappointment. Poor man's Jeff George. Big arm, low intangibles, bad decisions.

he had more to say on first take this morning, but I won't bother going through it. He he's been pooing on Jimmy since he was at ND. for the record, Skip is a The Golden Calf of Bristol slurper...

Skip is a bit controversial but for the most part he is right on. Of course he misses on things just like anyone else but when it comes to evaluating players or even predicting games he's pretty good.

I am hoping that hes wrong but it just seems like we cant ever hit on a QB or WR other than smitty and moose...

However, Clause looked very poised in his first game as a pro

One of the things that always makes me chuckle is when a national guy making a criticism gets his facts flipped around.

Clausen's positive is a big arm? Eeehhhh, no. Arm strength is a question mark.

Intangibles and decision making are weak points? Again, no. Both of those are bigger positives than his arm strength.

If that post had been written about Hunter Cantwell, it would have made sense. Clausen? Not so much.

I guess if Skip were evaluating DeShaun Foster, he'd say that he isn't a very good outside runner, but he protects the ball well :sosp:

Intangibles and attitude I think are why he fell.

On paper, Clausen has it all for the most part. He made some real heads up plays for his first live action though.

A bit controversial? That's kind of like saying we dropped a couple of big firecrackers on Japan to end WWII.

I don't see a Jeff George comparison at all. Some people questioned Clausen's arm strength coming into the draft. All Jeff George had was a BIG arm.

Intangibles, I don't think so. Attitude, maybe, but a lot of that apparently came from the segment he filmed with Jon Gruden. People made way too much of that.

A lot of the really vehement Clausen hate I've seen has come from people who would hate a friendly little puppy if it was wearing a Notre Dame logo.

    • Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is putting the league on notice early into his NFL career, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is well aware.  “I think he’s a stud,” Shanahan told reporters Thursday. “He’s going to be one of the best receivers in this league sooner than later. He’s got all the skill sets to do it, and I think he’s just getting started.”  Through 11 games played, McMillan has racked up 748 receiving yards on 54 receptions. He ranks sixth in the NFL in receiving yards and leads all rookies in the category.  Carolina selected McMillan as the No. 8 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. San Francisco had the 11th overall pick.  Did the receiver out of Arizona catch Shanahan’s eye in draft preparation?  “Yeah, big time,” Shanahan said.  Shanahan also said that he thought the receiver would be taken well ahead of the 49ers’ draft position, but the team did their due diligence when scouting the best overall draft picks in the 2025 class. With McMillan off the board, San Francisco ended up selecting defensive end Mykel Williams with the 11th pick to bolster its defensive line. https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/kyle-shanahan-tetairoa-mcmillan/1893558/
    • Koochie is playing his best hockey yet so far but it’s a small sample size
    • In basically every win but Atlanta he's had 2-3 plays that were a big deal but he also was part of why we needed those 2-3 plays instead of just cruising.
