Time to get ugly again...

Mr. Scot

The sig pic for this year is, however, unfinished.

The candidates to fill the empty right guard spot are shown here.

I'd say Robinson is the ugliest of the bunch, potentially the ugliest of the entire line (though Gross will always be a leader in that category, and not easily unseated).

I'm including the no-longer-Dudeish Scwartz because he got some right guard work at minicamp. Hadn't seen whether they were still giving him any work there, but I'd like to see it.

Pics are smaller than usual this season because Panthers.com no longer includes headshots on profile pages. had to load the pics from NFL.com, which has always tended toward smaller sizes. Ironic, when you consider the real-life size of some of these melons :sosp:

Thus, here is your annual tribute to the aesthetically challenged.

(you may now commence gagging)

Ah, but offensive linemen should be ugly.

Admittedly, other positions don't concern me as much. The ladies may tell you that QBs should be handsome, but I'm not overly concerned with that.

The O-Line, however, should have faces that clocks should fear and only a mother could love. And the Panthers have traditionally been very successful in this department.

We don't call them The Big Uglys for nothing.

And for the record, my buddy's teenage daughter thinks Clausen is cute.

She actually hopes he starts at QB over Moore. She thinks Moore is cute too, mind you, but he's married.

(teenagers) :sosp:

Nothing beat the year you had Hartwig with the mohawk on there. That was an ugly line. :)

True

It does occur to me that if any of his line-mates surf this forum and run across that little montage I posted, it could result in some grief for Wharton

Could be worse, though. Unfortunately, his "Travellvis' picture from the annual Halloween event is nowhere to be found online.

(wish I had that one saved)

Either that, or I could have included this shot:

Not exactly flattering, is it?

My question is (and this might be poll-worthy Mr Scot):

Who, in the history of the Panthers, has been the ugliest "Big Ugly" so far? I know Gross has to be a front-runner on this one, but there's been some that have scared small children before. Willig, Nelson, and Mohawk Hartwig might just challenge him!

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
