Running Teams in the NFL

Roflcopter. We got those 8 wins last year with the worst QB in the league and an unreal amount of turnovers. With a middle-of-the-road QB we would have won 10-12 games easily last year. This year with an easy schedule it's not at all unreasonable to think we can win 10. Clayton sucks.

i definitely agree we can have 10-11 wins just with our schedule this year and the fact that we have a qb whos actually completing passes as opposed to giving the other team touchdowns. we just need to keep our offense on the field as long as possible and the d on the field least amt possible. esp after we looked last week. hopefully we can beef up a little more before the preseason ends. we also will have smitty at 100% and hopefully someone will step up as our #2 wr....we will no longer just have the running threat so other teams ds wont know what to expect from us

I actually think the importance of the passing game is a little overstated. I don't think we even need a "balanced" offense. We just need a QB who doesn't turn the damn ball over every other time he touches it. As CRA pointed out, when our passing game was nonexistent and defenses focused almost exclusively on stopping the run, we STILL ran it almost at will. We're straight up going to run the ball down teams' throats whether they like it or not. As long as Matt can hit Smitty for a smoke route and a couple play-action slings a game, maybe dish to our TE's occasionally and protect the rock, we're going to be absolutely fine.

I do think a team probably needs a top 15 and preferably top 10 D though if you are gonna be be a run team and see success.

I agree. Fox and JR both prefer a solid ground game. That's his style, I don't see him changing.

A good O-Line and a strong running game is every NFL coach/owner's dream.

Easier to win consistantly through the air than on the ground.

Its easier to win consistently if you can do both.

Delhome was 32nd in passing too. Our defense wasn't even that great.

The Jets had the #1 defense with that formula and went to the championship.
