Matt Leinardt has been benched

This is not a surprise: Word is Derek Anderson will start for Cards vs. Bears and play most of first half. Actually, Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt revealed the plans for Anderson to start vs. Bears; not naming him permanent starter - yet. One issue for Cards - both Leinart & DA have flaws but DA can give explosive plays when Fitz/Doucet/Breaston return together. Last thought from a Cardinals' insider - not even that close between DA & Leinart. Even though "no decision" made, bet on DA starting year

If Matt Leinart had spent less time doing this

He would be spending more time playing this

This is not really a surprise to me. I never though he would do good in the NFL. Reason you ask? He never really had to play at USC with the talent they had. He just stood back there and was never really pressured. I think that made for him being a BAD NFL QB. I would rather get a QB that was challenged a little in Collage Football then one that had no really experience of learning how to work in hard situations.

A bitter Matt Leinart lashed out Friday, complaining about a lack of opportunity after being benched for Derek Anderson.

"It is disappointing and a little bit frustrating. I can't sit up here and say I'm happy and all smiles," said Leinart. "If it is an open competition, then let's have it that way from the start." Coach Ken Whisenhunt was eager to see Leinart's reaction to the move, and he's not handling this well at all. Leinart received first-team reps throughout the offseason and in the first two preseason games. That's more than fair.

    • The Athletic posted their goalie rankings for the season... The description of the tiers are as follows... Where would you rank Freddie and Pyotr? And don't cheat and look up the article. I'll post their ranks and the link in a bit.
    • Refs will be in their pocket. Always have to account for that. They are 20th in rush defense. They currently have the worst pass defense in the league. I mean I want to say even Bryce could at least put up 250 or more passing yards given that but man he looked BAD when the pocket collapsed against Miami and they had the 20th pass defense. Just can't expect to consistently get clean pockets like that in this league even with the better OL's. I'd say with this being a home game hopefully our guys will be motivated regardless. We certainly seem to play much better at home. We'll see.
    • They'd never do it, because it really would be insane to do, but if I'm the Commanders, I'd seriously consider trading Daniels after this season, especially as he'd get a HUGE return for him. He's RG3 part 2, with his body type and style of game, I just can't see how he holds up long term, he's going to end up having a seriously injury prone career. It would take some massive balls (or pure insanity) to pull the trigger on trading him, but I do think 5 years from now it would be looked back upon as a smart trade.
