Why draft AE as a project?

Why not draft a guy like Jacoby Ford, a proven receiver and return guy?

b/c he is an athletic freak. Most offensive skill position players outside RBs are projects to begin with. Expecting guys outside of the first round to contribute right away is rare.

Ford is a track guy. Not a great football player imo. I am a huge Clemson fan but Ford ain't that good. Edwards has better football speed.

I agree Ford is a track guy but I also think his speed would be great for a return man.

They drafted LaFell, so they felt they could gamble with a project.

I still agree with them, we also added Gettis who is and always was a WR.

I didn't mean to give you pie I meant to quote you. David Gettis and A.E. have played the game at about the same level so far this season. A.E. is next years second round pick, and Gettis is this years 6th. Gettis is probably going to get cut, and Edwards would be too if we didn't have so much invested in him.

LaFell is a project himself. All wide receivers are considered projects until their third year. So that doesn't really help our situation much either.

A.E. is our The Golden Calf of Bristol pick. Good guy, great work ethic, passionate about the game who deserves a shot. The Golden Calf of Bristol is not a first round talent at Qb, and A.E. is not a third round receiver talent.

Will it pan out? Who knows... I just hope so because I'd hate for him to be another wasted pick.

They obviously have a lot of faith in him. It'll take a couple years to see if he was worth it. Again, I like it.

Several years ago people were mad we spent a 3rd in an undersized PR/KR who was a project at WR.

I'm not mad we drafted him. I'm just curious as to why draft a project when we need immediate help at WR and PR/KR.

if he has a hole he can go straight through but that is rare. He doesn't change direction quickly and move laterally well.....that is why Spiller always looked so much faster and was 10x more dangerous.

      Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!

      When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
