preseason doesnt matter?

probably none to be honest. that doesn't change that 1 elite receiver completely changes the way teams defend.

i agree, Smitty changes everything being in the field. Even during the halftime interview with Stewart he commented about how Smitty effects running the ball.

We haven't had our biggest playmaker on the field all preseason. We more than doubled the yardage Tenn had with all of there playmakers on the field. I wonder what there fanbase is saying right about now....:P

in all seriousness. If just 1 of our receivers step up to become a legit #2. or even just a consistent one, this is a playoff team no doubt in my mind. Run game will be there. great Defense. If we can get a marginal passing game, we are good

you have to keep in mind that our #2 receiver is being covered by the other teams #1 corner(AND you have to remember the Titans have a very respectable secondary..)

plus with Smitty gone the safeties can relax more and focus on multiple players and not just him.

I'm not worried about the offense at all. frustrated? definitely. but not the least bit worried.

Just wait until CheddarBob makes his routine "the Panthers suck in some form or another" thread.

Or does Bob == Marco?

That theory's come up a time or two.

Also been suggested that one or the other (or both) may be the latest incarnations of either "Panther89813.1415" or "Gman is Dumb".

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
