Panthers do everything possible to avoid starting Dwayne Jarrett

It's really hard for me to understand how anyone here can really understand how "bad" he is. He hasn't had any playing time yet he is labeled a bust, or a waste of time.

yeah he has.

I have very good seats at Panthers games. He doesn't run routes at all.

so your response to feeling that jarrett has been slighted is to have him come back and burn your team? nice.

You wouldn't want Brad Hoover to come back and perform well against those who may have wronged him, or how about Beurlein back in the day? Up and cut by that hack Seifert? All I am saying is this, this organization kept their foot on top of this guy since day 1 and never cut him, never went public with anything...and all we hear about is an incident where Steve Smith called him out a few years ago.

It's ridiculous.

I didn't know you had access to the playbook so you knew what routes he was supposed to run, my apologies. :)

well I don't know what number on the tree he's running but it's pretty easy to tell when a person doesn't get separation off the line, doesn't come out of his break, doesn't move fluidly, doesn't break away etc

nope. i'm a fan of this team...not of players when they leave. i don't ever wish this team to lose or get sliced up by anyone, no matter how they were "wronged" by the team.

thats just being silly but whatever makes you feel better. GET THAT RAGE GOING AGAINST THE MAN!!!!!!!!! lol. petty

I've never thought Jarrett was that bad frankly, and he does get open, just balls don't get thrown to him that much... Perhaps he is running the wrong routes? I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if some team picks him up next year and he ends up being a reliable 3rd down/possession receiver.

Posting from my phone so don't feel like looking up stats. Look up WRs taken around Jarret in the last 3 yrs (to early too look up this yrs) compare stats. I don't know the stats but have to imagine they can't look much worse than Jarretts.

Well we never drafted him for his speed or quickness. That was obvious from day one. The guy is the biggest target this team has...I suppose for both criticism and receptions. Unfortunately for him he only has been given a chance at one of those.

I've said previously that they might be just hanging onto him to see if some team that has a sudden receiver emergency will give up something half-decent to get him.

If not, at this point I'd honestly be in favor of just trading him for whatever you can get and bringing back Kenny Moore. That way, you have a decent mix of talent and a little more depth in the return game, if needed.

That'd put your active receiver squad as Smith, LaFell, Gettis and Edwards. And realistically, is that significantly different from what they're already doing?

pointless to compare stats....as Jarrett has consistantly played almost a nonexistant number of snaps.

I bet his receptions/target numbers are better than a lot of those guys.

Fiz: he doesn't run good routes and is useless out of the break

pcline: WELL WE DIDNT DRAFT HIM FOR HIS QUICKNESS

he is the same guy who played at USC....same flaws/strengths.

also, he runs pretty good routes. He is very slow off the line....that is about it

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
