I think you are missing the point there.

Actually im wondering what makes you think we are rebuilding?? What, because we haven't brought in VJax which i would like to also or because we went cheap this year?? I just want your opinion because we have what some would call seven blue chippers which is about the same amount as the most talented teams in the league but Ill wait on your input

Well I kind of explained my personal thoughts in more detail on it in this thread: Setting Realistic Expectations: Panthers 2010 & solving the riddle: 2012.(LONG)

But basically everything that has gone on for the past couple of years including this year, from purging of high paid, veteran players, the drafting of QB's, the starting of so many rookies in spite of better freeagency options, the re-signing of cheap waivers like Lloyd and C.J Wilson, the possible lockout, the QB changes and the pretty much confirmed head coach change......if it's not a team re-building, I don't know what it is.

Even if it wasn't puroposely orchestrated or planned to be so, it has certainly turned into that now.

These threads are getting old fast. Steve Smith and Williams will never be traded. Also, Stewart will not be traded as long as he is on a rookie contract. Why, because we aren't paying him that much. It would be foolish to let him go.

Richardson is not going to make any major moves until we get a new coach in my opinion. The next guy needs to build his team, not Fox b/c he is going out the door.

While I am actually on the opinion that trading Smith might be in the better interest of the team in the long run, it will not happen. But it has nothing to do with him being the only threat at WR right now.

Smith, as much as some people might not want him to be, is a company man. More so than Jake or Peppers ever even thought of being. He is in a line with Sam Mills, Mike Rucker, Mike Minter and John Kasay. These guys aren't just players on the team, they were part of the community and the franshise as a whole.

Smith will be set for life in Charlotte and with the Panthers. Leaving will only give him short term financial benifits. I actually think Smith is destined to become a major role in the organizations FO, much the same way Mills was transitioned into the coaching staff. You don't give that up for a shinny new, non-gaurenteed contract.

Smith will not ask for a trade and JR will not get rid of him. Even if it was better for the team in the long run.

So...trade the one position that we are thinnest at? That makes sense. How about bring in a guy opposite Smith to make him even better. If I am Steve Smith I am PISSED watching guys like:

Wes Welker/Randy Moss

Desean Jackson/Jeremy Maclin

Steve Smith/Hakeem Nicks

OchoCinco/Owens

Andre Johnson/Kevin Walter/Jacoby Jones

Miles Austin/Dez Bryant

Every single top receiver other than Steve has one thing in common. They have another potent weapon across the field from them. Smith said he didn't want to have to be the man in Carolina for much longer. Looks like Fox and Hurney really listened to him....

Draft AJ Green or Julio Jones OR trade for Vincent Jackson and get the guy some help. This is becoming a worse situation than our safety situation was after Mike Minter retired.

Ok, it is painfully obvious the team si not bringing anybody else in this year. Lockout next year. So after that will Steve still ahve enough left in the tank? Plus, even if we did bring in a compliment to Steve, we haev to develop a rookie QB, hopefully he is great, but unknown as of yet. Dline=???? Lately oline = ????? So does bringing in another wr solve our problems adn make us a contender

What we are all missing in this thread is yes we havent done enough to get smitty help but at the same time we are A RUNNING TEAM on this list here what team can even compare themselves to our running back tandem. If you say dallas I will probably respond with JJ is extra aggressive with more money than our owner. Not only that they got fugIN LUCKY with miles austin if we can get a player undrafted or late round ie Gettis we can say the same as them. We have put most of our emphasis on running two elite back strong O line which has somewhat lessened our wide reciever options. I would also like smitty to have a good number two but we CANT HAVE IT ALL its just not that easy we have to understand that.

double shot early in the day lets get it probably be in 935 tonight got a few free vip passes Im brining the hood to the huddle who would ever thought I would be on a forum but im starting to like this more and more
