There are rumors that the Panthers are shopping Steve Smith

I would be down for trading Smitty for a good amount of draft picks or a young #1 WR (Vincent Jackson). But for Haynesworth? F**k no, that'd just be stupid. Any DT isn't going to make a big enough impact to make up for the monumental mess what would be our passing game without Smitty.

At least if you get a young WR or picks you can replace him and that works within the rebuilding process because whoever you had would be much younger and would end up contributing more in the long run.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing Gross on the block either but the way he's been playing lately his value is probably garbage compared to his 2008 pro bowl season.

Not like any of this is going to happen though.

You guys are fug!ng nuts if you think we're going to trade SS for Haynesworth, or anyone for that matter. 89's has more value to us than any other team. Who's going to mentor our 13 year old WR's? Who's going to pose an actual threat

to opposing defenses? If 89 goes, it will be next year when our new coach, not lame duck Fox, decides he doesn't fit his system.

Wellp Correct me if i'm wrong, I thought Smith hasn't truly mentored anybody? "left it up to themselves, coaching"? kind of thing? I say do it. He's definately got alotta years ahead of him, But I think we can build a strong WR corps in FA or the draft, nearly as good.

I'd rather keep him.. Of course, but damn..

I don't know, WR is already fugin lousy.

Steve Smith is heart and soul of this franchise. I know he isn't the leader he should be and I know saying this goes against the whole " no one is above the team" talk but Smith is special. We are a young franchise and Smith is our first real break through HOF caliber talent. He has a history here and he is in the hearts of the fans. If true, and this is a move by the FO then they can go to hell. If Smith is asking for it then that is a different story.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
