The pass in the dirt

plus a leader would jump his rookie qb if he made mistakes like clausen made bc he expects more from him......why should he not its the nfl not f**king cyfl.

he is doing his job which is being a leader, so if telling the qb he needs to hurry, than he needs to do so.

Telling him that is ok, hand jesters and making sure everyone...even those watching on tv knows he is "jumping" on him. Fans dosn't need to know everything that players talk about.

Man up, be a leader...pull him to the side on the SIDELINE, talk to him...not storm up and down throwing water and acting like a baby!

And again, you all are focusing just on Jimmy with this...what about the way he acts towards the other rookies on the team?

Those WRs are scrubs and wont be on our team in 2 years. Until someone outside of Smitty steps the f**k up, who cares about "mentoring". If he can get his self motivated, why cant they? Out of all the issues going wrong with this team, Steve Smith is at the bottom of the list.

Besides Fox, one of the reasons we don't have a young upcoming receiver is we have never had anyone show them what it takes to be a NFL receiver!

Kinda like the same reason we don't have an Aaron Rodgers right now!

way to much put into this, the rook has to earn respect before he gets it.

Thats why its gonna be hard for Clausen to succeed here. The expectations and standards for him are too low to ever be good. People are too willing to give him titles, instead of demanding he take them. He'll never be able to reach his full potential playing for this fanbase. Our fanbase wants Delhomme 2.0, not a proven respected NFL QB.

Those apparently have become fighting words around here... I asked for some objectivity instead of subjectivity and following the crowd when it came to Clausen, and you immediately get accused of hating on him and being a closet Moore fan.

Moore looked just as bad in there. I don't think it matter who starts between them with this OL, but I said it was best to put Clausen in there to see what he could do. He looked better against N.O., but he still didn't look great. And I do think there is a reason he's targeted Smitty so little...

Steve Beuerlein 2.0 would be much better.

Our current TE's would abuse with him in there.

I'm watching it on DVR and me and my girlfriend just don't see this. Jimmy seems to throw a lot of balls in the ground too. Smith was just saving us from a penalty and we had headset problems. This is just someone trying to make something out of nothing. I thought Jimmy played good though, hope he keeps improving every week. Sucks we're 0-4 but Jimmy gives me hope for the future of the franchise at least. I'll continue watching every game.

not just focusing on clausen but once again this is the nfl. you made it to this level and this is your job you shouldnt need someone to tell you to get on your poo. i never seen him throw water, but i have seen him be pissed and try to pump this team up. its called holding people accountable which this team has a problem of doing.soon as smitty f**ks up he mans up, and admits it.

and king i feel you bruh. we are the panthers acceptance of being average since 1995.

Yeah, when I watched the game, it just appeared to be a shitty pass... Only body language I saw was both guys looking like, "damn, that was ugly..." as they walked off the field.

Clausen needs to gain the respect of his teammates. Everybody already assumes he has, but Im not so sure. And he needs to win some games. You can be fiery, and get in guys faces, and try to be assertive all you want, but if it doesnt translate to wins, it dont matter. I dont even consider Clausen's game against NO a "good game", because he put up pedestrian stats and lost. If he had won, it would've been a "good game", but he didnt, and its not like he didnt have a chance to on that last drive. If Jimmy really is the "future" then in the present he needs to show more than what he has. He needs to get in the end zone more and not settle to just check down all day.

Agreed. I actually don't think it was a good game either, far from it, but he improved somewhat from his first start... It was still pretty horrible.

Everyone's trying to make him out to be some bad ass, like he walked in the locker room and every veteran shuttered at his machismo swagger... I think it's more like most of the locker room sees him a spoiled kid who came up off a silver spoon, and his parents hired coaches for him from an early age to get themselves a fat paycheck - they tried with his other brothers, IIRC, he's the youngest one... That's how I would look at it. If that's the case, he hasn't earned anyone's respect, and in order to do that, he's got to win... Which he hasn't done...

My point with my Bradford comparison thread was, the BEST QBs will their teams to win with their ability and talent. Bradford isn't scared to throw it over the middle, or throw it deep. He's making scrubs look like Pro Bowlers. Clausen has only thrown 3-4 deep balls total this season, by that I mean 15-20 yards in the air (if I'm wrong correct me, but I know it hasn't been more than a handful). Also, all of his throws are typically outside of the hashes, to the outside, and short - usually checkdowns. That's not going to will your team to victory.

agreed here. as much as i sound like i'm riding on his jock, all i have are hopes that he'll turn out to be the QB we have all been waiting for. he could be it and until he proves otherwise, i'm going to believe he can.

as far as the team goes...if he wants them to see him as someone they can go to war for, he needs to pull them up out of the hole. he does that then he's got them. if he's able to give them something that they don't have much of this year (respect and wins) then he'll have made huge strides towards earning that respect he needs to have. i did like the way he dealt with prioleau on the sidelines, jumping in like he did. reminded me a lot of philip rivers. he's got the attitude and i think he's got the talent. he just has to turn that into hard fought wins.

whether we liked him or not, jake pulled out some big time games that won the respect of the team for years. he earned the respect the team gave him. jimmy will have to do the same thing. in time i think he will.
