Dolphins Fire ST coach after embarassing loss

Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano just announced he has “moved on” from special teams coach John Bonamego, replacing him with special teams assistant Darren Rizzi.

Special teams breakdowns came in a “tidal wave” on Monday night, Sparano said after the game, but this had been an ongoing problem.

“This was a tough decision,” Sparano said. “I thank Bono for all he’s done. Players need to take responsibility too.”

yea, I think they gave up like 21 points off of Special Teams alone

I've always wondered why coaches/players get too many chances here. Is it JR's "family friendly" atmosphere? Is he religious? Does he believe in multiple chances? I mean, damn, they were 2-1 and the Pats abuse the Dolphins ST. Not saying they were good while going 2-1, but their coach is like...see ya! It'd be nice if we could do that as well. I'm looking at you, Davidson.

That was just a disaster. Miami has bigger problems than ST position

not really......

7-6 miami up at half time. and thats WITH 2 ints from henne (and 2 tds)

henne is young, but getting better. 660+ yards and 5 tds the last 2 weeks for henne. i like that.

Our defense held moss to "0" catches, and their offense to 13 points....

Patriots got 21 points on STs and 7 on defense.

disgusting performance on our special teams unit. We really, dont have much more problems than STs. We have our starting inside linebacker, DE, and RG out the last 2 weeks due to injuries. We get them back after this bye week, and we are gunna get rolling again

    • My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick.  I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble.  I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.
