Oh Wee Mayne Player of the Week.

Jimmy Clausen.

Sure, it ain't all you Jimmy. Your talent sucks around you and your coach isn't doing you any favors throwing you out to start in this mess. But the QB is always going to take a tad more blame than they deserve.

8 passing yards in a half though is 8 passing yards in half. Oh wee.

Sure, there are others out there, blindly screaming the praises of their legendary hero, Matt Moore, but only one is able to stand strong, and push all the blame on Clausen for every mistake during the course of the game, only to turn around and discover that the team fails to make plays when his hero comes in and throws 2 picks.

I got some free tickets and actually got to attend this game. We had seats way up in the 500 level, but it was nice to be able to see everybody on the field.

Obviously we've got a ton of issues on offense right now, but Clausen just wasn't going through his reads. I would see wide-open receivers that Clausen just wasn't. Or he'd scramble out and put himself into a position where he couldn't throw across his body to the wide-open receiver.

He'll learn, I hope, but it was frustrating seeing some of these guys (primarily David Gettis) wide-ass open and not getting passes thrown their way.

First, I am just having some fun.

Second, everything doesn't have to be Jimmy vs. Moore. Matt Moore was Oh Wee Mayne Player of the Week for week 1. This is Jimmy's turn. He earned it.

as for LaFell, he was 2nd in my voting.

Clausen looked horrible today guys. Come on...go ahead and blame Davidson, Fox, Lafell, the Line...hell, why not blame the Bears for being for damn rough huh?

He overthrew, underthrew, and missed guys all day. He can't move his feet to save his life, and he stares holes through Gettis...and still misses.

I said he can be good, but........he didn't prove me right today.

I think it all starts with the coaching staff.

You can't even begin to fix the problems on this team until you address the coaching.

The play calling sets every QB in our system up to fail-whether it's Jake, Matt, or Jimmy.

Our offense has just gotten so predictable, teams know when we're going to pass, so they send the house.

considering the number of yards he lost on sacks, saying he had 8 yards is a little deceptive. most of the sacks were not his fault at all.

edit: either way, he sucked it up today. I just wish he was alone in that.

true. We can give him full credit. He had 2 completions. One for 2 yards. One for 13. That is 15 yards.

    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
    • The Giants, Cardinals  and Dolphins should have moved on, but they didn't and ended up cutting their QB early into a monster second contract and had to eat a TON of dead cap money.
