How can anyone justify Moore over Clausen at this point?

He gives us less offense is what you are saying? So EVEN with all those turnovers Moore is still doing more offensively. How do you not see that Clausen is just doing absolutely nothing out there. I could go out there and throw the ball away all the time and not turn it over but I'm also not going to put many points up.

You can coach Moore to limit his mistakes. That's mental. Jimmy's accuracy and lack of arm strength for the deep ball or deep dig cannot be coached.

Right and in his 4th year Moore hasn't had much coaching...

Like I said, if I'm going to have a QB playing like a rookie - I'd prefer the QB actually be a rookie.

Yeah, screw a rookie game manager - let's put our 4th year turnover machine back out there!

Clauen isn't a game manager. A game manager can sit back and let the offense function. In this offense, that means the QB stays in the pocket and is willing to go downfield to open up the offense. Clausen has never even given a glimpse of that.

I've known you to be a knowledgeable poster and I usually look forward to your posts and pictures/stories about players and practices but when you say he had no one to throw to and countless other people said he did have guys to throw to it just doesn't add up.

Well, I guess you'll just have to decide who you believe... I've played, coached and refereeed allot of Football in my 38 years on this earth and I'm a pretty keen observer.

LOL CRA do you just purposely pick the worst players to defend? Hey let's bring back Dwayne Jarrett right... as you were vehemently defending him like 2 weeks ago lol

there is a difference between defending a guy and claiming people are just making up stuff.....vs. claiming a player is good.

again, Moore has 34 quarters where he allowed this offense to function....vs. his last 5 quarters where he was piss poor.

You (others) are claiming those 5 quarters define him. I am saying that is a pretty bad arguement. You have to factorin Moore is a very young QB and that is going to happen.

those arguing Clausen is currently better are being absurd. That again, isn't claim Moore has been impressive or even watchable thus far this season.

Unrealitsic expectations of Moore coming in. He is a young QB, not a vet. If Carolina was going to give him a shot....you don't pull him in that week 2 game that was still a game.

yeah. This isn't about to end.

anyway, sorry about the mixup on the names. Clausen/Moore should be fixed. You'll see they are both much closer.

If you take off that terribad game yesterday from both of them, Clausen looks heaps better, too.

also, it appears in my "points" for Clausen I somehow included a missed fieldgoal, so his numbers are lower, by like .5.

the thing that stands out most about either QB is that mistakes are what are killing drives the most. Neither of them get anything going long term because a terrible mistake of some kind, or a sack, or an incredibly unlucky play strikes.

The vast majority of the time, those bad breaks are due to lack of discipline though.

Clausen is sitting back and letting this offense function, it's just not functioning.

In his most recent start (and worst performance) Clausen was the first rookie QB to start a game with nothing but rookie WR's since '98.

In his first start, he played in horrible weather conditions (I was there, had a hard time gripping my beer).

If Clausen is such a horrible QB then how did he come out of both the Bengals and Saints game with a higher QB rating than the QB he faced?

If we are going to sneak resumes into our conversations I'd rather PM you. I watched the game and saw some open guys myself. I don't know if it was his last drive or close to it but on 3 consecutive plays (another 3 and out) he missed 3 open guys by 5 feet. What did you observe there?

sometimes man you're just as guilty as the rest of us of "making stuff up."

You say he had 34 great quarters. Ok. When? Not this season.

You said he had 5 bad quarters - why only 5?

Moore looked TERRIBLE in those 5. Clausen looked AVERAGE in his previous starts, and TERRIBLE yesterday.

If we're going to cut a guy a break for some off play, let's do it for the rookie.

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
    • very helpful.  I read back in this thread where they might try Jarvis at C--I thought he and Aho had good chemistry, however.  Nonetheless, he could expand his value there, and now we have a guy who can play jarvis' spot.  Freddie is a pro, no doubt--and as little as I know about the inner workings of strategy and positions, I could tell Burns was burning us at times.  I figured he'd retire and I was looking forward to it.  FWIW, they have Jarvis listed as a C on the 2025-26 roster.
