Godfrey

kid has great hands. if he can get his hands on a ball it is going to get picked. He still has no clue what is going on half the time....but the kid has talent. It is a shame he probably couldn't even beat Jarrett in a game of tic tac toe. Physically, Godfrey is impressive. Wish he had more going on upstairs and actually had a better football IQ.

see, that was almost a compliment.

I really don't think it's a matter of Godfrey's football IQ. He's missed some assignments, sure, but I think his tackling was his weak point. It seems he's shored that up.

I wonder how much of the secondary's problems yesterday can be attributed to starting Pugh? I know we saw Hudson in there a bit, and I do know that Pugh did some good things. Still, he's bound to have some communication problems. On some of those long runs by Forte, there were no safeties in sight. On other plays, I saw safeties running away from the line of scrimmage when the back was running up the middle.

I think it was a significant factor. Not to say Pugh sucks, just that he is inexperienced and between him and Godfrey some mistakes were made.

hes better than Harris right now....good move for a change.

eh, not sure about that. Sure he has 4 picks but his huge mental mistakes and not being where he is suppose to be has been costly. Harris doesn't have the extreme plays to both end of the spectrum.

Harris is still a smarter player and probably still better at this point. Godfrey's ceiling is much higher but he hasn't put it together enough yet.

The touchdown he gave up can't really be blamed on his IQ, he just didnt react fast enough to the cutback.

that play really didn't bother me. I thought the announcers put too much emphasis on it. The QB saw Godfrey come down and you can watch him read it and call an audible. Godfrey imo had one of his better games.....sometimes plays are called that take advantage of what you show an opponent.

    • We have without question one of the worst QB rooms in the league and your key concern is people having the audacity to be talking about it lol.
    • I saw this list crossing the screen waiting for any Panther.  Chubba, JC Horn and Hunt.  It was a crime to see so many that were not as good as these three.  ESPN is garbage anyhow.
    • Bingo!  We are on the same page.  Our scouting department was average under Hurney, but at least we hit hit it out of the park with our first rounders.  Our scouting department under Tepper's reign with his revolving doors of HCs and GMs has sucked because the scouts largely stay in place.  One or two may change every few years, but the core philosophy stays in place and I believe that to be heavily RAS influenced.    Looking the part of a football player (physical/athletic measurables) vastly outweighs putting on the tape and deep diving into his stats with our scouting department. Until we change that mindset, this team is doomed. Again, how many of us Huddlers (none of us are professional scouts) wanted McConkey over Legette? Yet, we went with XL.  Why?  RAS score, pure and simple.  If you put on the tape and look at the numbers without taking RAS into account, McConkey was the clear choice.
