Its official unofficial semi-official: jimmy clausen to start vs 49ers

it's pretty much a given that clausen will be the starter but it isn't "official" until there is "official word" from fox, which he has yet to do. the fact that he said it was too early to know who would be starting shows that there hasn't been an "official" decision made yet.

I don't think it's a given. Think back to Moore. He got pulled. Fox said it's too early to tell. Bam. Clausen starts.

Clausen gets pulled. Fox says its too early to tell. Wait for it...

you're going to be waiting a long time.

the real deal is that clausen was drafted with the intention of him being the franchise QB and when they put him in there the real deal is that they intended to keep him in there. that is the reality of the situation and it's going to take a lot more barring any injury for him to lose that spot.

even if he does, it's going to be temporary.

If Fox brings Moore back in, don't be surprised if we end up with a rotating QB carousel between the two of them, week-by-week... Unless, of course, one of them really starts to gel. Which will be virtually impossible with a carousel. =(

In my opinion, you give Clausen 2 more games basically. If he improves through those two games, limits turn overs, fixes his issue with handoffs, then you keep him in for what amounts to the remainder of the season barring injury. IF he continues to struggle with the very basic stuff, you have to sit him and put Moore back in so he can learn from the sidelines. If Moore keeps playing as we've seen him play this season, don't be surprised if Clausen comes back in after a month or so though. Moore's "leash" is so much shorter because he is expected to be at a different level than he is right now.

Both QBs need a lot of help, though, and I don't know that this offense can give 'em it.

    • https://x.com/4thand1show/status/1975274357174784272?s=46   saw this this morning and came to post something similar. I didn’t just love the team or the wins, I loved those dudes man. They put everything they had out there every Sunday. You didn’t see a rep where anybody on that field was low effort in that era, and if you did they were quickly sent packing.
    • …is Brycen Tremayne with 108 yards. Not sure what that tells us but I imagine it’s some sort of gumbo consisting of the following: - Bryce can’t push the ball downfield  - contrary to what many were saying this offseason, the wr still needs a lot of work.  - we need Coker back badly.  - Brycen is pretty good! Congrats to that young man! Curious to hear other’s read on it. Was a pretty surprised to see he had more yards than anyone other than Tet and thought that was symptomatic of our issues on offense.
    • I don’t think many fans would have guessed the Chiefs and Ravens would be where they are right now. Same goes for some surprise packages like the Colts, I’m not sure many would have put money on them being top of their division after five weeks. It’ll be interesting to see if this continues!   Not necessarily. The Chargers have lost both starting OL and their 1st and 2nd choice RBs. They fell apart against Washington. The Broncos have just beat the Eagles, so they’d be my favourite in that division, but they are still only one win ahead of the Chiefs. All the Chiefs need is a couple of results to go their way and they’ll be right in the fight for the AFC East. I think that division is going to be very close and probably not a 12 or 13 win division like predicted. Unless of course the Broncos kick on.
