Why not Armanti Edwards at QB?

Ok, I get it, the orginization has made it clear he's a 'project' who has been working with and taking reps with wide receivers..

1) the guy won 2 national championships at the quarterback position. yes, competition was inferior, it's not like all of his teammates at app st were above and beyond all other teams. He beat Flacco in a championship game and Henne at Michigan.. why are they starters and Armanti can't even be taken seriously as a QB?

2) With Rookie receivers who can't create separation (among other issues), we need to create offense FROM the backfield; not rely on things to open up downfield while one of our mediocre, immobile QB's (Clausen, Moore, Pike) sit in the pocket to either take a fumble/sack or throw a terrible pass.

I realize the hope of his playing as much as I think he should is far-fetched, but with where we are in this season, I think a little boldness in offensive scheme is called for.. I say (for now) half the snaps go to Armanti in the "mountaineer" and half to Jimmy to keep giving him reps as a rookie...

y'all's thoughts..

Armanti is too short to be a classic pocket passer in the NFL. He's not the sort who can drop back, step up into the pocket, scan the field, and make the throw. He tries that, he gets way too many passes batted down and tipped.

Now, if you run something where he rolls out, then he's gold. Make him mobile and put him in a WCO style attack and he can be deadly. In fact, I think he's about the same size as Jeff Garcia. So when the next coach arrives, maybe you have a shot at realizing your dream.

    • I presented that scenario because this is a home game and we seemed to have improved in some capacity in that area as of recently. The problem with the possibility of sweeping the Bucs is this team has had a habit of quickly falling victim to momentum shifts. The Bucs are coming off a bitter loss the same as the Panthers but the Bucs have a much better proven track record this time of year and they have performed when the pressure is on unlike our Panthers. We have a shot against the Seahawks here in BOA but that is a matchup that could quickly get out of hand because they are a well coached team and that goes back to the momentum shifts I mentioned. I just don't see this team beating the Bucs in their stadium to close the season. Tall order to say the least.
    • I’d give it another year for Sanders and Evans, I don’t much care what you do with Tremble’s spot. Let him have another year or maybe replace him. Haven’t looked at his contract so that may be the determining factor.
    • Following the crazy up down pattern we finish 9-8 with an improbable sweep of TB, and lay an egg in the home playoff game.  I don’t know if I can sign on to sweeping TB but I suppose it’s possible, they aren’t really that good this year.    ps I can buy beating TB Sunday and losing to Seattle.  Then it just gets to can you fluke one game. Any given Sunday. So we’ll see.
