I saw that article myself but didn't bother posting it because I feel bad for the kid. Better that it gets posted by one of his own to save face. Too bad they didn't want to lay off the hype. The kid doesn't deserve the amount of backlash he's getting ready to receive over the weeks. His fans do.

Couple things:

1.) Mel Kiper's influence amongst NFL GMs and scouting departments is greatly exaggerated

2.) Kiper came on ESPN Radio earlier today and listed a bunch of Wischard's clients that Kiper had rated lower than where they were drafted. Seemed pretty legit to me.

Clausen starting is one of the main reasons I still go to the games. At least we get to see our rookie qb go out there and get his experience.

I love the Panthers, but I probably wouldn't go to every home game if it was a 4yr veteran out there sucking it up while we're on our way to 0-16.

Yeah i listened to this on the Dan Patrick Show the other day too. I think there was somthing to Mel trying to raise Jimmy's draft stock, but i also think it really doesn't make a damn when it comes to scouts and the combine ect.

I don't believe he was inflated at all. If you look from month to month McShay had Jimmy as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th best QB coming out and moved it different ways all season long. I do not like Kiper, but if he inflated Jimmy so much why didn't a team with no QB issues, ahead of us at our pick, pick him up instead of a team who needed a QB?
