Panthers 03 superbowl team Ranks.......

I agree with that ranking. That team overachieved in an incredible way.

Think about it like this: TONS of people were saying that this year's team was the best Panther team ever (meaning they thought they were better than the Super Bowl team) and we lost in our first playoff game to the Cards. That's with having a wretched defense too.

I don't think it's really a slam to the '03 team either. If you make the Super Bowl, you're obviously an elite team.

Name five teams worse than the 03 Panthers and say why.

Arguments FOR the Panthers being one of the worst...

* Down year for Tampa (Keyshawn/Gruden incident)

* Vick got hurt in Atlanta

* Weak schedule

* 11 wins, four in overtime and three or four more in 4th Q

* played Pats tough, but NE never blew anyone out in SB

Arguments against

* Defense was no fluke

* Davis and Foster

* Smitty and Moose

* Won offensive game at St. Lou and then defensive battle in Philly back to back

9th Worst? The 03 team is responsible for the most exciting Superbowl in the past 10 years.

TEAM does not equal GAME. Nobody knew who we were, nobody respected us, we were underdogs beyond belief, before the game happened people outside of our fanbase probably couldn't have cared less about the game. Their ranking is spot on.

Stop being so butt hurt the rest of the Nation doesn't love us. We're in a small market. Get used to it.

    • The successful teams in the NFL right now have one thing in common: Patience. Not just with their QB, but with every facet of the program. There are going to be successes and failures, but no one panics and makes reactive decisions. Look at the Eagles, the Bills, the Ravens, the Packers, and hell, even the (newly successful) Lions. All of them showed patience with their QB's growth, let their coaches do their jobs, have drafted well, developed their own players, and plugged holes in their roster and organization with players and situations that made sense. That's what we need. And if that isn't what we have now, we need to make moves to get it there. If that means they need to blow it up to start over, then blow it up and start it over the right way. If that means to change their approach from top to bottom, change it now. But the blueprint of success is out there in the league, teams just think they know better, or they don't have the discipline to follow through.
    • X was drafted too early, needs refinement and is playing out of position. We knew this. What's the issue? Personally, I think he will be fine. Just needs more time.
    • Rozeboom is a JAG. Shaq was most definitely not a JAG.
