Official: Panthers not trading #89 or #34

So #89 will retire a Panther and #34 will end up getting a max offer from some other team that we probably won't match.

IMO the only way I see us keeping Deangelo with the other talent in the backfield is if he gives us a hometown discount, which won't happen with a RB. However, by keeping him on the bench and limiting his carries throughout his entire career we have probably preserved him until he is about 33 as far as being an elite RB. We saw it with Thomas Jones essentially everywhere he went and his running style is way more aggressive than Deangelo.

Steve Smith-WR- Panthers Oct. 17 - 11:59 am et

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Panthers "will not trade WR Steve Smith under any circumstance."

Schefter also reports that the team is not interested in trading RB DeAngelo Williams. Smith is signed through 2012, so the team has no reason to trade the Pro Bowl wide receiver. Williams is a free agent at the end of the season, but his stock is at an all time low. The winless Panthers could dangle Smith in the offseason, but the 31 year old is constantly injured and will likely draw only marginal interest.

I hope like Hell they trade Stewart.

you hope they trade our younger RB?

one who is off to a better start to his career than anyone else on the roster?

one who not only has a high pain tolerance but plays VERY well while injured? a RB who also has never missed a game b/c of injury?

Of course people want this. They see his YPC this season and forget about the awesome end to last season he had.

    • damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks.    I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part.    Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything.      In general, with the TEs
    • Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner.
