Flex Spot - Lynch or Welker

In the flex spot I'm having a tough time deciding...

Wes Welker @ San Diego

Marshawn Lynch vs. Arizona

I'm starting Deangelo and Matt Forte at the RBs and Larry Fitz and Steve Smith (NYG) in the WRs

Felix Jones and J-Stew are the only relavent bench players and Stew is close to being dropped

Leaning towards Lynch since I'm starting Hernandez at TE and Deion Branch being back in NE.

Normally I'd like to start a RB @ flex because they get more touches than a WR. But Welker is so much better than Lynch who is still learning the system in Sea. Wouldn't worry about Branch being back, Welker did pretty well when Moss was with the team. I don't see Branch making Welker any less valuable.

I'll play Devils advocate, if it's a non PPR league I would start Lynch and here's why.... Pete Carroll has already said that Lynch is his guy and he wants to give him the chance to show what he can do. In his first game with the 'Hawks Lynch had seven more carries then Forsett. I would expect him to have around 10 more then him today. Unless you're banking on one of Welkers 8 yard over the middle catches going for a TD I think a RB who should get 20-25 touches is a much better threat to make it to the endzone then a WR who makes a lot of 8-10 yard catches over the middle of the field in traffic.....

Welker is not as effective without Moss being such a deep threat, see if you can trick someone into trading for him.

Tried. Welker ain't moving.

I tried to trade McNabb to the guy in my league starting Romo, but besides Andre Johnson he didn't have anything I wanted. I even threw in Felix Jones who is sure to start racking up the numbers with Romo out.

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
