Interesting Matt Moore Facts

Carolina Crazy V2

Recommended Posts

btw in 2008 Jake had 9 games w/ at least 60% of his passes completed, we won all but 1 which was @ATL...he had only 3 interceptions throughout those games.

in 2009 we won 2 of his 5 60% passing game, in spite of his 7 interceptions.

Basically, you win games when your QB completes alot of passes, and doesn't turn it over. among other things

The Panthers are undefeated when Matt Moore completes 60% or more of his passes.

2007:

2-0 when over 60%

1-5 when under 60%

2008:

Did not play

2009:

4-0 when over 60%

1-2 when under 60%

2010:

1-0 when over 60%

0-3 when under 60%

Also, we have only lost two games ever when he throws for over 7 yards per pass.

Moore started 3 games in 07 not 8.

3 in 10 not 4.

If Jake could make us win, Matt can to if he just takes care of the ball. I have never been impressed with him, but when he plays without pressure he is pretty good. With our season shot, he should be pretty loose.

I think this is where I disagree with some of you. I get last season, but those guys are just jawing for the media, they believe they are in it, until they are mathematically eliminated. So the "no pressure" thing doesn't fly. And there was plenty of pressure to win our first game of the season, thats why he was started in the place of Clausen...to win.

and no Im not a Moore jock sniffer. This was the guy with the Clausen avatar a few weeks ago...

He is including every game he played in, not his starts. Yeah, it doesn't mean much to include games where he wasn't the starter and didn't throw the majority of the passes but whatever. THe only stat that matters is that he has over a 60% winning percentage in games he started.

Whether you are in the playoff hunt or not, there is pressure to perform week in and week out in the NFL. There is no such thing as "no pressure" games. You must perform or you are an insurance agent or working construction the following week. NFL careers are short enough, so performing at a high level every day is a must. That IS pressure!! So, the "no pressure" argument is weak.

maybe for backups trying to stay on the team the following year

Are those completed passes to the defense?

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
