Clausen actually looked like a pro QB today

at what point do you think a player is going to be a bust? ive watched most panther games, and he's been awful. He could still be a decent qb, but you can already write off some of his higher projections.

it's entirely premature to call anyone a bust before their 4th season.. the writing may be on the wall entering their 3rd year, but the concrete is still very wet.. Especially at the toughest position in sports: QB.. this also goes for WR, DE, DT, etc... RB is one position you can usually step right into and see results.. even then that isn't the rule.. it's just more likely you can plug and play..

that point? is NEVER the 1st year... unless you're the type who insists on over-reacting, which is very annoying.. and usually the "over-reacting" type is the only person who doesn't realize how ridiculous they are..

4/5 for 51 yards of Clausen's day came in garbage time at the end of the game when Tampa Bay sat back in deep zone (like Carolina often does most of the game), keeping everything in front of them.

So in reality 12/21 for 140, 0 TDs, 0 INTs.

Just goes to show how little one has to do to be considered successful. Or just how low the bar has been set for success at this point.

And I'm sure last year people called for JF head too. If you seriously think you can judge a QB after 4 games, especially in this offense under this coaching staff, then your a f*cking idiot. It took 3 seasons for Troy Aikmen to finally "get it", he wasn't incredible his first two seasons. Plus, Clausen is playing through his foot injury which is hampering him from making those deep throws, seeing how you use your legs/core to pass the ball.

Don't believe me?: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/11/14/1837035/clausen-pike-seek-new-look-next.html

It matters because one of Clausen's biggest strengths coming out of ND was that he was NFL ready, which he is not. Freeman was suppossed to be a 3-4 year project and he is nearing elite level after 16 starts.

Nobody was calling for Freeman's head last year, he was one of the youngest players in the nfl and he was actually a big upgrade over JJ, Fatwhich (even with all the bone-headed picks). You could see progress game by game, but his biggest strides came in the offseason and this year.

You need about a 30 game sample to get a true indication of where a quarterback is at. That does not mean that you can't speculate, and often you can predict if a guy is not going to be good after a relatively small sample. I would say Clausen's ceiling is very limited, but that does not mean he won't be successful.

As for the injury, didn't know that he was hurt.

He has played with the same toe injury since college. He got surgery on it and forced himself to play his senior year. As I stated, and this is a fact, a QB uses his legs/core to throw deep/accurate. Which when he was interviewed he said it still bothers him, but he has enough nuts to play through it. Give him 7 games to show improvement, and let the FO decide what to do next season. But honest to God I believe we are trading down to fix the real problem at OL and DT.

If i wasn't on my cell phone I'd destroy this post. I'm not gonna claim he did great today, but the fact that you've either made stuff up or simply pulled it out of you rear shows how much of a troll you are.

you could look at freeman last year and write him off as well.

What does it take for people on this board to give this kid a little credit?

He may or may not be the QB of the future; but, he is the QB of now.

Today, Jimmy was not part of that mess.

He looked like a rookie, a rookie who has improved, hopefully, he will continue that.

If not, there will be someone else next year.

Some of you take his performance so personally, and bashing him so smuggly that it's almost like you got a rejection letter from Notre Dame when you applied to college.

EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES continue for Clausen week after week. Sure he looked better this week. How in God's green earth could he look worse than last Sunday.

How many EXCUSES can people come up for with Clausen. He sux. He really, really sux. No amount of time is going to change that. If you believe he is magically going to become an NFL average QB, then you must live in some Wizard World.
