DT is a desperate need

Worth discussing what type of DT we need most.

Ideally, you want a Warren Sapp/Kris Jenkins type, someone who's stout enough to be a run stuffer but also fast enough to be an effective pass rusher, but those don't grow on trees.

So if you have to choose, do you want a guy who's primarily a run stuffer or mainly a pass rusher?

If I had to pick one it's no doubt a run stuffer. LB is the strongest position we have, free those guys up to make plays. Pass rushers can be subbed in.

Anyone notice the best pressure we got today was with 3 guys with their hand on the ground?

From what I have seen Landri gets in the backfield more than that...he is the most consistent DT on the roster.

I agree. I could have said 1 to 2 games instead of 2 to 3. But he's still not worthy of being a starter. He's basically Jordan Carstens.

I agree. Get a wall first and build on that. If teams can run all over you, like they have to us, nothing else matters.

When it comes to the draft, however, I think you have to take Luck #1. Since there isn't a worthy DT at that spot, you have to go with best player available and that would be Luck.

DT and LB on the D side, but those are made more glaring by the worst offense in the league... which starts with the playcalling and the poor OL play...

Get Otah back, kick Gross and Kalil's butts, hope Wharton can stay healthy, add some depth and potential starters who are consistent...

Tailor the offense around our RBs and play to Clausen's strengths... not run left, run right, run middle, punt, occasional trick play and or/pass... Utilize more of a WC offense with Goodson sharing some 3rd down duties as a WR out of the backfield...

Draft/sign a hog for the middle of the DL, keep a good rotation like we have now at the other DT spot/both DE spots... Get some LB depth... etc.

The biggest two moves will be HC and OC... that will solve a lot of our other issues...

Richard Seymour, Cullen Jenkins, Brandon Mebane, Barry Coefield are all top tier DTs that the Panthers must make a play at. I dont see the Cowboys retaining Marcus Spears after this year. He would be an intriguing option for rotational/depth.

In the draft there are guys like Christian Ballard, Kendrick Ellis, and Drake Nevis that might be available in the 3rd round.

Jarvis Jenkins of Clemson and Marvin Austin of UNC in the third round. Problem solved.

I like our DE's Hardy, Brown, CJ, and Brayton are solid. Resigning Charles Johnson should be a priority. Add Greg Little or Dwayne Harris to the WR corp. And depending on the Richard Marshall situation draft Peterson or Green.

Cornerback can also be considered a desperate need. Peterson.

Also Steve Smith at 32 needs a young guy to take his spot. Gettis or Lefell are NOT likely number 1 WR's they are complementary WR's. Enter AJ Green.

i would actually consider haynesworth an option. i'd be surprised if he's a redskin next year. sure, he's a punk, but he'd be our punk.

theres a few other guys who have contracts up after this year i would like... brandon mebane (seattle), aubrayo franklin (sanfran), cullen jenkins (green bay).

i wouldn't even mind taking a chance on johnny jolly if he's allowed back in the league after this year. i know richardon probably wouldn't hire him, but still worth consideration, imo.

Cullen Jenkins would be a good signing. We won't be able to get Ngata. We have to get someone that is for damn sure. Seymour would be awesome even at his age. Those guys would instantly make us better. It might actually be better that we sign a FA because we won't have to wait on the grooming process. I guess it just depends on how fast we want to be contenders again.

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
