How many times does Godfrey have to get beat

I think Pugh has looked pretty good when he's been in there, I've been wondering when we'll get to see Pugh and Martin together. Godfrey does get burned all the time, and he's not a solid enough tackler to make up for being bad in coverage.

Godfrey is a Fox guy so the job is his for now. Don't be surprised to see Godfrey lose his job when a new coach comes in.

again, Godfrey has been garbage from his rookie years until now. Last season, after consistant horrific play Martin stepped in and looked like a Pro Bowler......and then Fox went back to Godfrey. Why? B/c he is committed to Godfrey....he wants Godfrey to be the best option so he gives him the job.

wanting someone to be and them actually being the best option are two different things. Fox has struggled w/ that from 2007 - to present day.

Martin would still be on the bench likely if Fox had his way b/c Harris would still be here. He is better than both.

I think if you are going to bash Godfrey like this then bash on Gamble as well. Coverage on that side of the field has been terrible all year. Gamble has played terrible as well. I have seen Godfrey having to come in multiple times to cover for Gambles mistake or when he gets burnt off the line. I would take Godfrey over about half of the other starting SS in the league right now. If our D line could make some pressure or maybe stop the run I think the secondary as a whole would look much better.

Gamble may be slightly overrated. He isn't Godfrey level bad.

Coverage is always bad on Godfrey's side of the ball. Godfrey was a big reason Lucas looked like trash....a corner can't hand coverage off to him.

Gamble also got beat by TJ on that play. Now I'm not saying Gamble is bad, but on that play he got beat just like Godfrey.

Its not about the better option. Sometimes you bench guys when they under perform. it happens all the time

There is no mystery safety who would be a better option. I'm not crazy about Godfrey, but I don't buy for a second that Fox is starting him for any other reason than he is our best option.

yeah, NFL coaches have flaws, are stubborn, and do dumb things. Those things occur in every profession......at a wide variety of degrees. I don't know why there is this thought going around that b/c someone has an NFL job they can't do completely dumb shiznit.

In your opinion there was a better option than Godfrey last season. Maybe it's your opinion that there is a better option than Godfrey this season. In my position, as a fan, I respect the opinion of other fans, but ultimately it's nearly impossible for a fan's opinion to be equal or superior to an NFL caoching staff. It would be luck, or a very rare event for you to be correct imo. If I were a betting man, I would put my money on the NFL coaches every time.
