DeSean Jackson

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Being reported in a few sources (linked by PFT) that Jackson has been displaying some very diva-like behavior, including refusing to field punts in practice, trying to avoid any sort of short or crossing routes because he might have to take a hit and spending more time texting his agent than paying attention in practice.

Some have also said he's "alligator-arming", i.e. not going all out for passes thrown to him if it looks like he might take a hit. In the midst of this, Jackson is also lobbying for a big payday.

Story is that some of his Eagle teammates are a tad "put off" by this. And Eagle head Coach Andy Reid reportedly ripped him a new one after one of their most recent games.

Do you sympathize, given that he's already suffered a couple of concussions, or do you think he's being a pansy?

what happened to ricky watters?

After years of being great in San Fran, he signed a free agent contract with the Eagles. And the first big impression he made on the fanbase was alligator-arming a pass late in a game that the Eagles eventually lost. After the game, he defiantly said he wasn't going to go all out in those kinds of situations and risk himself.

Fans, teammates and coaches did not respond favorably.

Ricky Watters was actually good. Real real good. Some think HoF good (not me personally but yeah) Desean Jackson is nowhere close to how good Watters was.

Very good, but also selfish, and not necessarily a "team first" kind of guy.

Jackson is pretty good too, but he's a relatively thin guy, and he's been vulnerable to the big hit.

    • I don't think he did it to spite Bryce. Seems like Bryce is a truly decent guy that virtually everyone likes. I do think Frank likely preferred Stroud and was either was led to believe or deluded himself into thinking that he would have a lot more say in the direction we went at QB in the draft. Once we decided on Bryce knowing Bryce didn't fit his system and preferences in a QB it really seemed like the wind went out of Frank's sails and he basically started mailing it in and just waited to get fired and paid out. Maybe I'm misreading the whole situation but that's certainly the way it looked to me from the outside looking in.
    • Again, it may have nothing to do with Bryce Young. The coaches are thinking about the whole roster. Many guys have said how much different this off-season has been not having to start from square 1 with a playbook, language, etc. You’re talking about bringing in a guy to lead the 2nd team offense who they now have to spend time teaching. Every team is different. This team is young and developing across the board and trying to find some positive continuity. With how Morgan and Canales have approached everything I’m fairly certain they considered all possibilities and decided it was best for the overall team to roll with Dalton for now. They value whatever it is they feel Dalton brings over the extremely low probability of whatever washed out, journey man, reclamation project developing into a franchise QB. You and I have no idea why and aren’t there in the meetings, but it’s clear that the FO sees this young failed franchise QB project as less likely to pan out than you do.
    • Frank justed wanted to throw Young to the wolves because he wanted to draft Stroud. It was a big FU to Tepper and that is why he only lasted a few games before getting canned.
