Anybody catch Marty H. on 1110 after the game?

I was driving to Atlanta (ironically) after the game and the signal for 1110 faded out just as a caller asked Hurney for his thoughts on drafting Luck. Anybody hear his answer? I'm curious what he said about Clausen, Luck, etc.

I'd imagine it went something like this:

"Well, I really don't wanna get into all that stuff right now. Jimmy was a guy we really liked coming out, as you probably don't know, I even tried to make a move up and get him, and it's been nice to see him develop and grow. So, uh, yeah. Um. Yeah. I mean you know-......um yeah."

He said it is too early to think about drafting players and that they are focusing on developing their young players.

I wonder about that.

What is their idea of "developing".

Throwing -2 yard screen passes? Check down after check down?

How can the WR's develop? They don't get thrown to anything past 5 yards.

Our defense sure is getting some good real game reps though.

And I for one think his "our philosophy is to develop and retain our core players" talk this year and last is a clear indication that we have no plans to be players in free agency for the foreseeable future. FWIW, that is complete and utter bullshit.

I thought JR was saying how he was going to do everything in his power to make the team right again?

I certainly hope that includes more than just stopping the campaign of atrocious draft trades. Although if they stop trading away our damn first rounders, that would be a start.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
