A friend just texted me. Told me that on WFNZ they are talking about how Smitty had a closed door meeting with Richardson today asking for a trade.

This severely depresses me as I would love to see him retire here

but....

I guess we should have seen this coming.:cryin:

Hurney should have traded him when nobody thought he would be traded. Now that the whole league knows that he wants out a lower draft pick is more probable.

Exactly, it's Peppers all over again. Wait until the guy is screaming to get out until you do anything and screw over any chance you have at getting decent value for him.

    • "Fanboy syndrome" for wishing a guy well due to a new baby? Come on, Dude. This conversation isn't even really about the team holding anybody back, and it was not even ostensibly about on-field play, injuries or even skills, but since some took it there, as an aside, it morphed into a side discussion about the FO being forthright in negotiations. If you're not going to extend my contract for whatever reasons, don't lead me to believe that you are. It's that simple.
    • If we are going to obsess over ex-Panthers, here is a good one from the ESPN poll of NFL execs and personnel guys, this is the outside top 10 list.   Just like CMC, he is who we thought he was. It's amazing that so many people get fanboy syndrome for these guys assuming it is the team holding them back. That's the minority of the cases in our history. It's basically poker "bad beat" syndrome. How soon we forget the reverse, all the guys we let go that tanked hard afterward.
