who or what position do you want with the 65th pick?

how do we get that pick back? That is the #1 question.

The only way would be trading our 1st.

Not gonna happen I think.

I do like what he said about Landri though. He really shouldn't be our starter but he does some things that are impressive and no one on our line has been able to jump a snap and shoot the gap like he has.

the armanti trade just really pisses me off. without that we would be so ready to have a good draft or at least have the potential to have a good one.

We still could but I know what you mean.

Though if Armanti turns into something next season he is effectively that second round pick and it would balance things out somewhat. Even if he is just a decent slot receiver it would be a decent pick if our QB and OL situations improve with this draft and FA period.

I will go one better and give you my offseason plan.

Add Brandon Mebane and Carl Nicks in FA. Throw money at top FA's for a change.

If we trade down we are gonna gain several picks. But if we can not trade down we take...... AJ Green. To replace Smith.

Trade him and DWill. It's not personal it's business. Take Noel Devine KR/PR/WR/RB and Jarvis Jenkins DT with those picks.

65th. Johnny Patrick of Louisville Cardinals. CB

97th. (compensatory for Pep) Clint Boling of Georgia. OL

98th. Mike Blanc of Auburn. DT

Devine and Green give the new OC some new toys. Patrick could replace Marshall. Jenkins, Mebane and Blanc give us some interior dline presence. And Nicks and Boling could play RG and LG. If we trade down it gets even more confusing to the Luck Bandwagon Riders. But the long and short of it is we get a 3-5 players instead of just Luck. In addition to the other picks we already have.

I want Luck in the first, then best player available with the 65th. That's too late to target a specific position. Besides, we need everything, except maybe linebacker and running back. Now that Fox is headed out the door, a TE might not be such a bad idea, they always say a good TE is a young QB's best friend.

I have been watching Standford quite a bit this season (mostly because Harbaugh is a bad a$$ and his teams are fun to watch, HINT HINT JR) and I really like Sione Fua especially if we go the way of the 3-4. Excellent against the run and still can collapse the pocket. His stock could rise but he could easily be there at 65.

Another guy that stood out to me when watching (and especially when watching Lucks highlights) Owusu kept standing out to me. Wouldn't mind a late round flyer if he declares (who knows what happens if Harbaugh jumps ship).

Dude, JP is a hell of corner. Watched him every game for the past 4 years and he has become one of my favorite Cardinals. However.... there is no reason we take him at 65... This is a really deep draft for corner and he will be available late. Id love that we take him. Could be a lot like Captain is now but not that early.... That would be the equivalent of taking a QB and converting them to WR for the 33rd pick in the draft.... oh wait... lol.

I really dont think we are going to trade Smitty. He is just too valuable to this team and with both his age and contract I doubt we get anything close to fair compensation.... maybe a 4th... thats it. I say keep him. Hes frustrated. It happens. With a new coach and hopefully a new QB he will be getting his balls and have even more to cheer about then a 6-7 yard screen pass...

Some people have mentioned this but I want to really stress it: the best player available. We are in position to draft nearly any type of player to make our team better with the only 2 exceptions being LB & RB. I just want the BPA according to our new head coach's system.

I would be fine with a CB, WR, DT, DE, OG, OT, TE...almost anything.
